Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Newcastle short list Isak replacements
Liam Delap is being considered as a potential replacement for Newcastle United talisman Alexander Isak, who is attracting strong interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
That is according to Teamtalk, who add that the Magpies are also monitoring Viktor Gyokeres.
Value (3.5/5): Isak sale could help Delap pursuit
It is thought that he’ll leave Portman Road if Ipswich are relegated, which looks very likely. In January, the Tractor Boys slapped a price tag in the region of £50million. Newcastle, meanwhile, are demanding £150million for Isak. As such, his sale could comfortably fund a move for Delap.
Suitability (3.5/5): Old school number nine
The Englishman, who learned his trade in the Manchester City youth setup, is known for brilliantly using his immense physique, movement and pace, akin to the striker of yesteryears to make hi mark on the game.
Upgrade? (4/5): Isak replacement
While Isak is a more well-rounded number nine than Delap, the Ipswich man has at times impressed with his technical prowess and could greatly improve in that department in the right environment.
Logic (4/5): Premier League stay
Delap wants to continue in the Premier League but Ipswich appear destined for the Championship. As such, the move to Newcastle would hand the 22-year-old a lifeline.
Whisper+ verdict: 18/25
Delap's transfer to St. James' Park could work in favour of all parties, including Isak who seems open to a move away from Newcastle.
