Olympique Lyonnais made a big gamble during the summer transfer window: betting on Tyler Morton, Liverpool‘s product. This transfer is proving fruitful, to such an extent that an English club would already like to bring the midfielder back to the Premier League.

A product of Liverpool's training centre, Tyler Morton never managed to establish himself with his training club. Following successive loans to Blackburn Rovers then Hull City, the midfielder was finally transferred to Lyon for €10m (£8.5m). Whilst few Lyon supporters knew the Englishman before his arrival in France, he is now one of Ligue 1's most effective players.

Tyler Morton is indispensable for Lyon. He quickly established himself as a key member of Paulo Fonseca's squad. On the English side, the 23-year-old player's performances are still being followed, notably by Crystal Palace. According to information from site Jeunes Footeux, the English club would be won over by Tyler Morton's performances and would be considering formulating an offer to Lyon.

Tyler Morton still appeals to Premier League

A departure for Tyler Morton during the winter transfer window appears very unlikely, particularly because Lyon are counting on their midfielder to secure European qualification at the end of the season. However, a transfer next summer is not inconceivable. Currently, the former Reds player is valued at €12m (£10.5m) on Transfermarkt. The Gones will probably demand much more to let him leave.

Moreover, Liverpool have retained 20 percent on Tyler Morton's transfer in the event of a capital gain. The English midfielder is still under contract with Lyon until June 2030 and the Rhone club have no interest in selling him, unless there is a very attractive offer. Because Lyon still face budgetary restrictions and financial difficulties. A significant sale at Lyon would certainly do the treasury some good. It remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace will actually position themselves in the coming months.
