Downgraded in the hierarchy, a Manchester City replacement is heading towards a departure during the next summer transfer window. Crystal Palace have already demonstrated an interest in recovering this player valued at £22m.

Next summer, numerous movements are still expected, notably in the defensive sector at English clubs. Marc Guehi will leave Crystal Palace and will leave a large void in the Eagles' central defence. A centre-back will be recruited in order to fill the probable departure of the English captain, who is the subject of a battle between several heavyweights (Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona).

According to information from media TEAM Talk, Crystal Palace believe that Nathan Ake would be an excellent option to succeed Guehi. The 30-year-old player is playing very little since the start of the season (seven appearances including only two starts for a total of 548 minutes) and he is no longer considered an essential element of Pep Guardiola's squad. However, the Dutch defender is still valued at £20m on Transfermarkt.

A £20m sale in preparation for 2026?

Ake is still under contract with Manchester City until June 2027. The next summer transfer window will therefore be the ideal moment to sell the former Bournemouth player. Arrived for €45m (£38.5m) in summer 2020, Ake could bring in at least £17m-21.5m to the Citizens.

If he no longer fits into Manchester City's plans, Ake remains a confirmed international player (56 caps with the Netherlands) and who has major Premier League experience. Also capable of playing in the left corridor, he has the ideal profile to replace Guehi in Crystal Palace's central defence.
