There are just a few days left in the January window and certain clubs are beginning to scramble for last minute business deals. Here, we take a closer look at some of the latest transfer news today.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Bavaria, with key figures at Bayern Munich providing a huge update on the future of Harry Kane.

Elsewhere, one of Manchester City’s biggest stars has received some bad news ahead of a possible summer move to La Liga giants, Barcelona.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva will be out of contract in the summer, though his hopes of linking up with FC Barcelona have been dashed following a report by Spanish news outlet Sport.

The report claims that Barcelona are not interested in recruiting a midfielder in the summer, turning their attention to strengthening the attack and defence instead.

The 31-year-old is determined to continue his career at the highest level, though instead of La Liga, he may have to consider potential offers from Juventus or Benfica.

Silva, who makes around £300,000 per week at the Etihad Stadium, will have to prepare for a pay cut as he eyes a summer move away from the Premier League.

Things are going from bad to worse for Crystal Palace during this winter window as the Eagles prepare to lose another huge asset after Nottingham Forest expressed their interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta.

According to Sky Sports News, Palace are only willing to let the striker leave if two conditions are met. Firstly, the club want £40m for the player, and secondly, the Eagles want to find a replacement before selling.

Considering Mateta still has 18 months remaining on his contract, Palace are in no rush to make the deal happen, despite growing interest.

Juventus and Aston Villa have also expressed their interest in Mateta, with all the interested parties looking to capitalise on Palace’s recent troubles.

Contract negotiations between Bayern Munich and Harry Kane have reached the ‘advanced’ stage according to the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl.

Speaking to Sky in Germany, Eberl confirmed that the 32-year-old striker is set to extend his contract by another two years, with the Englishman reportedly feeling settled in Bavaria.

Kane was linked with a move to Barcelona in order to replace Robert Lewandowski, though with a £60m exit clause included in his contract, an early departure was never on the cards.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer also confirmed Kane’s situation in a recent media appearance, saying he fully expects the striker to stay in Bavaria for the foreseeable future.
