Cody Gakpo could leave Liverpool before the summer transfer window closes, with several reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are both pursuing the Dutch winger.

These swirling reports about Gakpo come just a year after the 27-year-old signed a new five-year deal with the Reds. However, much has changed at the club since then.

For the most part, there is a feeling that the former PSV Eindhoven player does not comfortably fit the winger profile of new boss Andoni Iraola, and this could be the reason why Liverpool are strongly pushing for fast replacements in wide areas in these final days of the transfer window.

Where will Cody Gakpo end up this summer?

According to Oddschecker, Tottenham Hotspur are highly favoured at 10/11 to secure Gakpo's signature this summer, and this is because the London side have shown concrete interest in the Dutch international.

Spurs have held personal terms in place for Gakpo since July, with reports in the Netherlands indicating that he has already provisionally agreed to terms on a contract with Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

While Gakpo could be open to a move to Spurs, a switch to Manchester City could also be appealing, as the Cityzens have entered discussions with Gakpo's representatives.

Liverpool have slapped a price tag of £70 million on Gakpo, and it remains to be seen which of the interested parties will eventually match the Reds' valuation of the player.

Liverpool’s condition to let Cody Gakpo leave this summer

Liverpool may be outright willing to let the player depart the club this summer, as the Anfield giants are not currently having second thoughts about the matter.

The club's stance on Gakpo's departure rests mainly on one factor – their ability to secure adequate replacements in wide areas before deadline day.

It is no longer news that Liverpool have been actively working on the transfer window for wingers, with Paris Saint-Germain’s sensational French international Bradley Barcola and Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr as potential targets.

Of the lot, Barcola is the highly preferred candidate to make a move to Anfield before deadline day, with reports already stating that the Reds have struck an agreement with PSG for the player.

As reported by reliable outlets, Barcola is nearing a move to Liverpool on a deal worth up to £120 million, with the 23-year-old set to be granted permission to undergo a medical.

Both clubs are said to be negotiating the final details with an initial £100 million package, while £20 million comes in add-ons, before the deal is officially sealed.

With this move done and dusted, it opens a huge window for Gakpo to seek action elsewhere, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City keen on his signature.
