Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a surprise move for Cody Gakpo in recent days, but their pursuit looks anything but straightforward.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have ‘no plans' to sell the 27-year-old winger despite Spurs making their interest known after the 2026 World Cup.

The Reds remain fully focused on signing Bradley Barcola, and that ambition does not alter their stance on Gakpo – they want to strengthen their attack, not weaken it.

Gakpo is tied to a long‑term deal at Anfield until 2030, meaning it would take a huge offer from Tottenham for Liverpool to even entertain the idea of letting him leave this summer.

Aston Villa are preparing a move for Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal, with Unai Emery placing the teenager at the very top of his summer wishlist.

According to reports, the Midlands outfit are ready to table a £30 million bid for the 19-year-old talent, despite the LaLiga side viewing him as ‘untouchable'.

Emery is understood to be a huge admirer of the Spain U21 star, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, and has urged the club’s hierarchy to push ahead with an offer.

Barcelona have already knocked back approaches from several clubs in recent windows, including Premier League rivals Manchester City, meaning Villa could face a major challenge in trying to land Emery’s top target.

Top‑flight newcomers Coventry City are exploring a move for forgotten Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

Reports suggest that Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard is keen to reunite with the Ukraine international, having briefly worked with him during his spell at Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Mudryk, now 25, is eligible to play again following a lengthy doping suspension and will be assessed by new Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso before any decision is made on his future.

Coventry face strong competition from two unnamed English clubs, while a loan switch to sister side Strasbourg also remains a possibility.
