Jeremy Jacquet is being tracked by Chelsea, among others. Rennes have no intention of backing down, and the Blues are now considerig to sign a cheaper centre-back.

Speaking to the media, Habib Beye shared the Ligue 1 sixth-placed side's position regarding a potential sale of the 20-year-old defender.

“Personally, I have no news from Chelsea. But Jeremy (Jacquet) and I have spoken. It is normal for him to be in demand. When you are Stade Rennais in the situation we are in, we cannot afford to lose Jeremy Jacquet, but at some point the market may force me to surrender, as others have surrendered.”

The coach does not want to sell his defender, but a certain economic reality may lead the Breton club “to surrender.” Or not, as Chelsea are now looking at another name.

Chelsea turn attention to Bayern Munich

As reported on X by journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea are interested in Kim Min-jae. The English club have contacted the South Korean's agent to express their desire to sign the 29-year-old defender this winter, with the player featuring on the Blues' shortlist.

While the international has played regularly for Bayern Munich this season with 21 appearances, the German club are not opposed to the idea of parting ways. However, they will want a decent fee, having spent £42.4m (€50m) to secure his services in 2023. That said, the defender's market value has plummeted and Kim Min-jae is now worth just £21m (€25m) according to Transfermarkt.

Even if Bayern still want to try and sell him for a good price, his transfer should still be less expensive than that of Jeremy Jacquet, likely falling within a range of £21m to £34m (€25m to €40m).
