Liverpool are bracing for another significant squad overhaul this summer following a disappointing season and academy graduate Curtis Jones looks set to be among those shown the door.
Jones heading for Anfield exit
It has been a difficult campaign for Liverpool. Despite heavy investment in the squad, Arne Slot's side suffered early cup exits, scraped a Champions League qualifying position only through the failings of others, and were eliminated from the Champions League itself after a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate defeat to PSG. Changes are coming, and they will not be limited to the dugout.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have already confirmed their departures, and the exits of Alisson and Virgil van Dijk have also been mooted. In total, nine players are understood to be leaving Anfield this summer, including Federico Chiesa, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott — who has endured a torrid loan spell at Aston Villa.

Jones is also expected to depart. The 25-year-old Liverpudlian has been a first-team squad member since the 2018-19 season, with Jurgen Klopp having spotted his potential early. His technical quality has never been in question, but inconsistency has prevented him from nailing down a regular starting place. He enjoyed a strong spell earlier this season before dropping out of the side, and it appears he will not be given another opportunity to cement his place.
Chelsea lead the chase
Jones's availability has attracted considerable interest. Inter Milan attempted to include him in a swap deal for Denzel Dumfries in January, but that approach came at the height of his best form and was rebuffed. Now, according to reports, Chelsea have emerged as the primary suitor. The Blues have made no secret of their desire to strengthen in central midfield this summer, and a player of Jones's quality — still with significant potential at 25 — would represent a valuable addition. Initial contact between Chelsea, Liverpool and the player is said to have already taken place.
The move would make sense for Jones too, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding Enzo Fernandez's future at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle and Manchester City have also been mentioned as interested parties, though neither are considered as serious as Chelsea at this stage.
