Chelsea are interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as part of a planned midfield overhaul, according to the Independent.
At 22, Scott has been one of the standout performers in Bournemouth's impressive campaign and is regarded as one of English football's most exciting young talents. His consistent displays have attracted attention from several Premier League clubs as well as Thomas Tuchel's England setup, earning him his first senior international call-up last November — a milestone that has only raised his profile further ahead of the summer window.
Scott emerges as Chelsea's primary midfield target
Chelsea have emerged as the main interested party, with the club looking to bring greater dynamism, creativity and intensity to their central midfield. Scott further underlined his quality last weekend when he scored the winning goal as Bournemouth defeated league leaders Arsenal, a result that reopened the Premier League title race.

Chelsea's pursuit is also driven by uncertainty over Enzo Fernandez. The Argentine was recently suspended after giving interviews suggesting a desire to join Real Madrid, and while he has since returned to the squad, his long-term future at Stamford Bridge is far from assured. A departure would create a significant gap in midfield and further justify Chelsea's interest in Scott.
Bournemouth set steep asking price
Bournemouth have no intention of making the deal straightforward, however. The club are expected to demand in excess of £50m for their midfielder — more than double the £25m they paid Bristol City for him in 2023. That figure is likely to rise should other clubs formalise their interest, potentially triggering a bidding war for one of the division's most coveted young players.
Scott would nonetheless align with Chelsea's broader recruitment strategy under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, which has been built around acquiring young talent. The Blues' current midfield already features a number of players in that bracket — Fernandez (25), Moises Caicedo (24), Romeo Lavia (22) and Andrey Santos (21).
