Authenticity (4.5/5): The Athletic makes a surprising claim
Atletico Madrid have shown a surprise interest in signing Scotland and Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson this summer, as Diego Simeone looks to strengthen his flanks.
That is according to the very reliable The Athletic, which suggests Robertson is one of Atletico's top priorities after they decided against signing AC Milan's Theo Hernandez.
Value (3.5/5): Unlikely to be expensive
The 31-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Anfield. As such, the Reds are unlikely to be in the position to demand a considerable fee for the Scotland international, who is valued at £15million by Transfermarkt.
Suitability (4/5): Incredible work ethic
Robertson is capable of making a difference on both ends of the pitch, owing to his impressive positional awareness and crossing in the final third. However, his standout quality is his aggressive and relentless work out of possession which should make him a Simeone favourite.
Upgrade? (4/5): Much-needed addition
Both Reinildo and Cesar Azpilicueta are out of contract this summer, leaving Atletico in desperate need of reinforcements on the left side of defence. Robertson, despite his age, could not only comfortably replace Reinildo and Azpilicueta, but he could also prove to be a significant upgrade on Simeone's current options.
Logic (4.5/5): New adventure
With Liverpool set to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, Robertson will face increased competition in Merseyside. As such, this summer might be a perfect opportunity for him to join a project where he is more valued. The chance to play in Spain at this juncture of his career should also appeal to him.
Whisper+ verdict: 20.5/25
Robertson appears to be an ideal Simeone's fullback and with Liverpool set to sign a new left-back, the pursuit should be relatively smooth for Atletico.
