Who are the AC Milan transfer targets in the current transfer window? Look no further, we've got you covered in this article.
It has already been a very busy summer for AC Milan. The big-money sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United has helped free up some much needed cash to fund a major squad overhaul.
The likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have already joined the Italian giants and they don’t appear to be done yet. Stefano Pioli is hoping for a few more additions, particularly in the final third of the pitch where they are in need of more firepower if they want to be serious contenders for the Serie A title.

Who are the AC Milan transfer targets?
Let’s look at some of the main AC Milan transfer targets as they aim to further strengthen this summer.
Hugo Ekitike
It is public knowledge that AC Milan wishes to sign Hugo Ekitike before August is over. Yet despite a heavy pursuit for the 21-year-old Frenchman, PSG is still playing hardball, even with less than a week left of the transfer period. With this said, we can probably agree that of all the AC Milan transfer targets right now, Hugo Ekitike is the one that they would prioritize over the rest. He has the exact ingredients that AC Milan needs to boost their attacking ranks right now. I say this as Hugo Ekitike is fast, skillful, and above all, he can score goals – something AC Milan needs following the potential departures of their high-profile strikers within the next 12 months.
Of course, with his age, Hugo Ekitike could be a vital asset for AC Milan for several years if they were able to get this deal done. However, despite positive negotiations held in recent weeks, AC Milan hasn’t been able to agree terms with PSG. That’s because AC Milan is hoping to get Ekitike on loan with an option to buy, whereas PSG isn’t happy with the proposed terms. Specifically, the main hurdle seems to be the option to buy price once the loan spell ends.
And for the moment, Hugo Ekitike is taking on offers from clubs like West Ham too, so AC Milan is up against it if they are to bring him in before August is over.
Mehdi Taremi
While Hugo Ekitike would be the preferred signing for AC Milan at the front, they aren’t tunnel-visioned over Ekitike. In fact, AC Milan has been keeping their options open with the possible signing of Mehdi Taremi. Of course, Taremi is a different striker altogether when compared with Hugo Ekitike. For starters, he is 31 years of age – a full decade older than Ekitike. Additionally, he has a totally different level of experience given the length of his professional career. This kind of experience would match up with Olivier Giroud perfectly at AC Milan, which is probably why he has become one of the main AC Milan transfer targets in recent weeks.
With that said, having an interest in the Iranian international is one thing – actually signing him is a different story. So where are they at with regard to signing Taremi? Well, personal terms have been agreed already, and Mehdi Taremi has publicized his desire to join AC Milan. But the main hurdle relates to the asking price, for which Porto wants €20 million if they are to sell Taremi to AC Milan.
For the moment, AC Milan has held back on putting such an offer forward, but with time running out, the next few days could lead to some very interesting moves.
Alexander Simmelhack
The AC Milan transfer targets mentioned above are clearly intended to come in and play an important first-team role. However, AC Milan isn’t solely looking to bring in a top-notch striker for the first team. This is proven by the links with 17-year-old Alexander Simmelhack – a guy who plays for Copenhagen at the moment. As for why they’d like to sign him, Simmelhack has scored 16 goals in 24 games in the U19 Boys League (Denmark), and he has secured 4 assists too. These numbers have obviously caught the attention of AC Milan, and in terms of the latest news, Simmelhack is expected to complete a medical at AC Milan shortly.
Of course, if all goes well with the medical, Simmelhack will then become a confirmed signing. Yet as we all know with the transfer market, nothing should ever be taken as a given until the deal has officially been done.
Folarin Balogun
Reports suggest AC Milan are battling city rivals Inter for the capture of young striker Folarin Balogun from Arsenal. The 22-year-old was a revelation on loan in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 21 goals for Reims. Only three players netted more times in the French top flight than the USA international.
Balogun’s breakthrough season presents a pleasant dilemma for Arsenal. The forward is reportedly not willing to join another club on loan and may struggle for game-time at The Emirates with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah for company. That could convince the Gunners to cash in on the player, particularly if we get a bidding war between the Milan giants.
Yunus Musah
Having just signed Samuel Chukwueze, another young talent from La Liga that AC Milan have on their radar is Valencia’s Yunus Musah. A United States international with 27 caps already to his name despite his tender age, Musah’s background is an interesting one. His Ghanaian and English heritage is well known, but he was also eligible to play for Italy where he spent a significant part of his childhood.
A move to Serie A would therefore be something of a homecoming for the 20-year-old whose energetic qualities would be an asset to any team. Musah still has work to do in terms of improving his all-round game and end product but he may feel as though he is ready for a step up having featured heavily for a struggling Valencia side last term.
Musah usually operates in a central midfield role but has also at times been employed on the right flank. In the short-term, he may have to settle for something of a squad role in Milan but he unquestionably has the potential to develop into a fine all-round midfielder.
Facundo Gonzalez
Musah may not be the only Valencia player that Milan move for this summer. Facundo Gonzalez, also 20, is rumoured to be on their radar. The young centre-back is yet to feature for Valencia’s first team but has impressed with their B team in the Spanish lower leagues and was also part of the Uruguay squad that recently won the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The potential move is made possible because Facundo Gonzalez possesses an Italian passport and wouldn’t need to be registered as a non-EU player with Chukwueze likely to fill the final non-EU slot.
