Newcastle: Latest Transfer Rumours

Ever since Newcastle United were bought by an oil-rich Saudi Arabian consortium the transfer rumours involving the club has exploded. Even the likes of Neymar and Messi have been tenuously linked with a move to Tyneside. We're only going to be commenting on the real transfer rumour surrounding this club and will reference each and every rumour so that you know it has come from a reliable source.

Magpies offered Senegal forward

bamba dieng

L'Equipe are reporting that Bamba Dieng has been offered out to several Premier League clubs including Newcastle and that the striker could move before the transfer window closes.

Eddie Howe is certainly looking to bolster his attacking options and a move for Dieng feels very ‘Newcastle' given their history with players from Ligue 1. Dieng has played 11 times for his country but has just one goal to his name. Last Season, the forward played a big part in marseille's Ligue 1 campaign in which the striker scored 7-goals but it looks like his employers want rid of him now and will accept a reasonable offer.

Everton, Bournemouth and Fulham have also been credited with an interest in Dieng but that may well just be agent talk as the player seems keen on making a lucrative move to the Premier League and doesn't seem to care who it is for. A fee of around 15 million Euros is thought to be what Marseille want for their young striker.

Newcastle set for big Ramos bid

The Benfica forward, Goncalo Ramos, is set to be the target of a big bid from Newcastle this week according to tbrfootball.com.

The Portuguese striker has impressed in the early stages of his career for Benfica and a bid of around £33m could prove enough for Newcastle to tempt him away from his homeland.

Newcastle need more goals in their side and Ramos certainly has the potential to become one of the leading strikers in European football. The 21-year-old has scored 14-goals in 18 Portugal U21 games and last season he scored 8-goals in 46 games for his club across all competitions. Benfica are well known for selling on their talented players for big money and reinvesting it in their squad and keeping themselves competitive across multiple competitions, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them sell Ramos.

However, with Nunez leaving the club this summer to join Liverpool, Benfica might prefer to hold onto Ramos for another season especially as he has already scored in the Primeira Liga this season. A big bid for the young striker still might force Benfica's hand and it will be interesting to see how this rumour plays out.

Howe to move for Pulisic

Chelsea, Christian Pulisic

Christian Pulisic has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and has been linked with a loan move away from the club already this summer. Newcastle are the latest team to be linked with the USA international, according to the shieldgazette.com, as Eddie Howe looks to add more quality to his midfield.

Pulisic, 23, made his name at Borussia Dortmund before being signed by Chelsea in 2019. Since then the American midfielder has made 117 appearances and scored 25 goals for the Londoners but despite featuring in both Premier League games so far this season, he could be sent out on loan.

Newcastle would love to add a player of Pulisic's quality to their squad and at the age of just 23, there is still plenty of time for the USA star to develop. If the move were a loan with the option to buy then Newcastle could certainly make money on Pulisic should he return to the kind of form that got Chelsea interested in the first place.

There will be a number of clubs interested in Pulisic should he be available for loan, so Newcastle will have to act fast if they want to sign him.

Barkeley and option for Howe

The Transfer Tavern have reported that Newcastle could be ready to make a move to bring Ross Barkley to St James's Park.

Eddie Howe is known to be in the market for some more attacking and creative players and with Ross Barkley being available to loan or transfer, you can see why the Magpies have been linked with a move for the England international.

Barkley, 28, has continuously been linked with a return to Everton this summer but the majority of the Everton fans aren't interested in seeing him put on the famous blue shirt ever again. The player's big wages will have ruled out potential moves to a number of other Premier League clubs but it won't stop Newcastle.

Barkley could certainly add something new to the Newcastle midfield but after a poor loan spell at Aston Villa and just a handful of appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea last season, this might not be a deal Newcastle want to get involved in. Given his age, Barkley has no sell-on potential for Newcastle and he would likely be requesting a long-term contract on around £100k-per-week which is a lot of money for someone you would probably want to replace in a season or two.

Newcastle should stay away from this deal as its only going to cost them a lot of money in the long run.

Toon to miss out on Everton star

Anthony Gordon

Newcastle had a bid for Anthony Gordon rejected by Everton earlier this summer and now it seems like Chelsea are making their move for the talented young winger, according to the Chronicle Live.

Chelsea have apparently made their first bid for Gordon, thought to be worth around £42m, but Everton are said to have rejected a straight-up cash deal for the player they value at around £50m. However, the Toffees have been keen on bringing in a couple of Chelsea players this season, notably Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja, and if they could arrange a swap deal then Lampard would likely let his star player leave the club.

So it looks like Newcastle have so far been priced out of a move for Gordon and even if they could match what the London club are offering, the chances are that the player himself would prefer a move to the Champions League side rather than joining the early stages of Eddie Howe's vision for Newcastle United.

Last Week's Newcastle Transfer Rumours

Toon set to sell at least one goalkeeper

dubravka

The Northern Echo are reporting that Eddie Howe will likely sell one of his four first-team squad goalkeepers this summer after an interview with the manager himself.

Newcastle currently have Martin Dubravka, Nick Pope, Karl Darlow and Mark Gillespie in their squad and trying to balance or rotate four goalkeepers would be impractical and highly unusual. Pope, who signed this summer from Burnley, is likely to replace Dubravka as the first choice this season and the Slovakian international may decide to leave the club in search of regular football.

However, Darlow is 31 and seem unlikely to challenge Pope for a top spot this season, so it could be a good time to cash in on the shot-stopper who would certainly attract interest from a host of Championship clubs. Gilles[ie, 30, is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League for the Magpies since signing from Motherwell back in 2020 but would perhaps be more accepting of a third-choice role in the squad.

Howe would like to keep all four goalkeepers but knows that is unlikely,

“I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to leave, but I’m well aware that four (keepers) is a difficult number to carry,” said Howe. “My wish would be to do that, but obviously we’ve got to think of the players as well. Hopefully, we’ll make the right decision.”

Clearly, one of the three goalkeepers who have been here the longest will make way this summer, perhaps on loan or maybe permanently. If Newcastle can keep Pope and Dubravka that would make for some genuine contest for the No.1 spot, something not many Premier League clubs have.

Muriel to turn down Newcastle's advances

Eddie Howe has been looking to add more quality upfront and had hoped to bring in Colombian striker, Luis Muriel, from Atalanta this summer.

However, Sports Witness are reporting that the forward does not wish to move to Newcastle. The 31-year-old impressed for Atalanta but with just 1-year left on his contract, it looked like the Colombian was going to make a move this summer and Newcastle have been long-term admirers of him.

Apparently, interest from Juventus has surfaced and Muriel wants that move to go ahead, despite being closely linked with a move to Newcastle for the last few weeks. While a move for Muriel seems dead in the water right now, if Juve decide to go with a different option then we could see Muriel change his mind and make a move to St James's Park.

Werner hopes fade away

Timo Werner, RB Leipzig

Newcastle's hopes of signing Chelsea forward, Timo Werner, on loan have evaporated following the announcement that the German international will return to his former club RB Leipzig on a permanent basis for a fee in the region of £25m.

Sky Sports announced the soon-to-be-completed deal and it has hit Newcastle with another blow as the Magpies struggle to recruit the first-choice players they really want to strengthen the team. Although Werner hasn't really impressed since making his big-money move to the Premier League, the German forward has bags of pace and could play in several positions with many believing he just needed a fresh start away from Chelsea to regain his form and confidence.

Sadly, the Chelsea man won't be stepping out onto St James's Park any time soon as it appears as if he has decided to go home with the hope of returning to his very best and making the Germany squad for the upcoming World Cup.

FW rumour rating: 5/5

Toon set to miss out on England defender

Conor Coady is close to agreeing to a loan-to-buy move to Everton after the Wolves defender was told he would no longer be a regular starter at the Midlands club.

Newcastle had been interested in the England international, along with West Ham, but Everton looked to have pipped both teams to the post, according to the Chronicle Live, by showing more interest and offering the player guarantees of first-team football in this World Cup year.

Coady needs games if he is going to make it into contention for Southgate's squad and with Everton losing Ben Godfrey to a broken leg, a big chance for first-team football has sprung up, one that Coady is built to fill. The Toffees enjoy playing a three-at-the-back system, something Coady is used to from Wolves and being a Liverpool supporter, Coady will be happy to return to his native Liverpool.

Have Newcastle missed out on a proven Premier League defender and England international that could have strengthened their starting eleven? We think so, but perhaps Eddie Howe has his eye on a different option for his backline.

Newcastle to go all out for teenage sensation

Sesko

The Northern Echo believe that Newcastle will step up their interest in the highly rated teenage striker, Sesko, before the summer transfer window closes.

We've already reported on Newcastle's interest in Sesko but it was always thought that Man Utd sat at the front of the queue for the RB Salzburg striker. Reports around the Internet suggest that Newcastle are preparing a £25m bid for the 19-year-old and will wait to see what his club say.

Salzburg are likely to push for a bigger deal for their prized asset but it looks like Newcastle are going to put their money where their mouth is in order to tempt the teenager to make the move to St James's Park. Signing Sesko would be a huge statement of intent from Newcastle and their new owners, showing that Eddie Howe's side are forward thinking.

For Sesko, this could prove to be the best option as the youngster would get more first-team opportunities at Newcastle than he would if he went to Man Utd. Sesko hasn't really proven himself to be a prolific goalscorer at RB Salzburg just yet but his potential is massive and Newcastle's best chance of signing him is before he really hits the big time.

Newcastle United History and Information

Newcastle United is considered one of the biggest clubs in England, partially down to their large fan base and loyal support. Founded in 1892 when two clubs merged to form Newcastle United. Their biggest derby is Sunderland in what is called the Tyne-Wear derby. They have recently bounced between the Premier League and Championship, winning the Championship title in May 2017.

Newcastle United Football Club, the so-called Magpies, is a professional football club from Newcastle upon Tyne. Newcastle United Transfers

Alan Shearer from Blackburn Rovers for £15m in 1996

Newcastle United made serious headlines after this transfer was announced. Alan Shearer was, at the time, one of the most sought after players and he was a part of Blackburn’s inspiring title run. So, it was quite surprising when Newcastle bought him for a then-record fee of £15. Shearer spent 10 years at the club and he is still the player with most goals scored in the Premier League with 260 goals.

Fabricio Coloccini from Deportivo La Coruña for £10m in 2008

Coloccini was already an established name when he came to Newcastle in 2008 but many were still surprised that the club decided to pay £10 million for him. However, the move paid off since the Argentinian defender spent eight years at the club and became a true fan favourite.

Michael Owen from Real Madrid for £17m in 2005

After an unimpressive stint with Real Madrid, Michael Owen came back to the England where he had his most successful years with Liverpool. His arrival at Newcastle United was euphoric since the club splashed out a record transfer fee for him. However, Owen struggled with injuries and he only scored 26 league goals for the club during the 4 years at Newcastle.

Ayoze Perez from Tenerife for £1m in 2014

The Spaniard came to Newcastle for a bargain fee of just £1 million but he quickly proved just how good he is. He was one of the club’s top goalscorers during his 5 years at the club, despite playing mostly as a winger. In 2019, he was sold to Leicester City for £30 million.

Jeolinton from Hoffenheim for £40m in 2019

Joelinton broke the record for Newcastle when he was signed for £40 million in 2019. The Brazilian striker was relatively successful in Germany, although the transfer did raise many eyebrows. So far, the sceptics seem to be right since Joelinton has only scored two league goals for Newcastle United in 45 games.
