Championship newcomers Wrexham have made a concrete offer for Stade Rennais midfielder Jordan James during this summer’s transfer window.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder, who was on the bench for Rennes’ 1-0 win over Marseille on Friday, is one of the club’s potential departures before the window closes. Under contract with the Rouge et Noir until June 2028, James has attracted interest from multiple clubs abroad, including Italian side Parma.
Championship and Italian interest
Parma have reportedly made an offer for the Welsh international, who currently has a market value of around €8m (£7m) according to Transfermarkt. Meanwhile, Wrexham are leading the chase with their bid ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Rennes set €8m asking price
According to L’Équipe, Wrexham are negotiating a fee of €5m (£4.3m) with Rennes. This falls short of the French club’s valuation of around €8m, although a loan with an option to buy remains a possibility – an option also reportedly considered by Parma. James joined Rennes in the summer of 2024 for €5m, but with the arrivals of Valentin Rongier from Marseille and Mahdi Camara from Brest in his position, his future at Roazhon Park looks limited.
The departure of James, who made 25 appearances and scored once last season, could allow Rennes to complete yet another sale this summer. So far, the club has recorded 19 departures, generating €87m in revenue, including the sale of French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo to Nottingham Forest for €30m (£26m).
