Authenticity (2/5): Little link with Everton so far

Everton's new owners the Friedkin Group are reported to be interested in bringing former player Richarlison back to Merseyside from Tottenham.

This news comes from The Liverpool Echo, who provide little source detail linking Richarlison with the Toffees, and mention more formal interest from his boyhood club, Fluminense.

Value (2.5/5): Spurs will want plenty back

Since buying him for £60 million in 2022, Spurs have got just 16 goals and 73 appearances from the Brazil forward, who has found the net only once this season.

That has seen his market value drop to £24.75 million, and having not got their money's worth, Tottenham will be desperate to recoup as much of that £60 million as they can.

Suitability (4.5/5): At his best in blue

A much healthier 53 goals in 152 appearances in four years made Richarlison a fans favourite at Goodison, and a return to his old stomping ground could be the kickstart he needs.

For the Toffees, he can play up front or on either wing in both the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations that Sean Dyche favours.

Upgrade? (2.5/5): Faces competition in key areas

Neither the 27-year-old or Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been in good form for a while now and it would be interesting to see who Dyche would pick.

Out wide an in behind, Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have been two of the most exciting players to watch at Goodison this season and tough to force out of the line-up initially.

Logic (3/5): Never go back?

When linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, Richarlison said he wanted to fight for his place at Spurs instead.

Rumours of a move to Newcastle apparently were more enticing, which would likely make interest in a move back to Everton – who were all but forced to sell him due to PSR – appealing too.

Whisper+ verdict: 14.5/25

The direction the Friedkin Group want to go in will likely become clearer in the coming days and weeks, but for now there doesn't seem to be much for Evertonians to get excited about.
