West Ham United transfer news: New offer made for winger after £39.2m bid rejected

Roma have made a new offer to West Ham United for Crysencio Summerville, according to Sky Sports Italy.

It is the third bid the Giallorossi have made after having two previous ones rejected, with the first being €46m (£39.2m).

Roma are now awaiting West Ham's response to their new offer, with Summerville open to a move to Italy.

Summerville has been convinced by the technical project offered to him by Roma, and so is open to the move.

There is no release clause in his contract despite West Ham's relegation to the Championship, and so both clubs are negotiating an appropriate fee for the winger.

Benfica's Andreas Schjelderup is also on Roma's transfer list, with both players recently representing the Netherlands and Norway respectively at the World Cup.

FW verdict: West Ham should cash in on Summerville

After being relegated from the Premier League, now is the time for West Ham to cash in on Summerville.

They have already gained a great profit from the sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham for £85m, and while they may not get as much if they sold Summerville, they can still demand a hefty fee.

That money can then be used to rebuild the team and help the Hammers bounce straight back up under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Although Summerville undoubtedly has quality, his departure would be softened by the fact captain and star player Jarrod Bowen has committed his future to the club, and so West Ham should still possess the quality needed to gain promotion.

The Irons will also not want to keep a player who is not fully committed to the club like Bowen is, and Summerville has expressed that he is open to a move to Italy.

His market value has never been higher either after coming back off a season where he still managed nine goal contributions in a relegated Premier League team (5G, 4A), and four goal contributions in four appearances at the World Cup (2G, 2A).
