Authenticity (3/5): Graeme Bailey with another exclusive
Tottenahm Hotspur are prepared to sign their former academy talent Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer in the summer. The 27-year-old is prepared to leave relegation-threatened Southampton.
The story comes from TBR Football‘s Graeme Bailey, who adds that Walker-Peters has turned down a move to Galatasaray in January.
Value (4/5): Free transfer on cards
Despite Galatasaray's willingness to meet Southampton's £8million asking price, the move isn't materialising because Walker-Peters has set his sights on a return to north London. Spurs are prepared to wait for his arrival until the summer as a free transfer would represent a good bargain for them considering his talents and Premier League experience.
Suitability (3.5/5): Walker-Peters is ready for more responsibility
When the player left Spurs for Southampton in 2020, he was just able to play as a right-back who impressed with his defensive prowess. At St Mary's he has developed into a more complete full-back, who loves to take on his man and make a difference higher up the field. His positional awareness has grown leaps and bounds. Promising option for many big clubs in England's top flight.
Upgrade? (4/5): Jack of all trades
Walker-Peters is capable of playing on both flanks and even at the heart of the defence. Considering how badly Spurs have suffered due to their injury crisis, a versatile option like him would be brilliant for Ange Postecoglou or the next man in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Logic (4/5): Player wants Spurs return
The Englishman clearly wants to remain in England and has also no desire to play in the Championship. As such, with just six months left on his contract, Southampton are bound to lose him. It is underlined that a return to N17 would appeal to the defender.
Whisper+ verdict: 18.5/25
Postecoglou could do with a player of his calibre now but the prospect of a free transfer at the end of the campaign is likely to be preferred by Daniel Levy.
