At the beginning of the 2021/22 Premier League season, Newcastle and Tottenham played the first of a run of crazy encounters against each other. Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle – 23rd October 2022
After spending a fortune in the summer of 2022, Newcastle started the 2022/23 in impressive fashion. Spurs, meanwhile, were starting to stall under Antonio Conte. Eddie Howe's men thoroughly deserved their victory and they were dominant throughout. Newcastle took a 2-0 lead in the first half before Harry Kane pegged them back shortly after half time. Kane's goal failed to inspire a comeback, though, and Newcastle took home all three points.
Newcastle 6-1 Tottenham – 23rd April 2023
Newcastle well and truly got their revenge on Tottenham for the 5-1 defeat a year prior by going one better to beat a sorry Tottenham side 6-1 in April 2023. Tottenham's season had fully unravelled by this point and the loss was so bad that their temporary manager, Cristian Stellini, was relieved of his duties afterwards. The emphatic victory all but secured Newcastle their first top-four finish in the Premier League in 20 years.

Potential MVP – Son Heung-Min
Son Heung-Min may have hobbled off the pitch at the end of Spurs' last match against West Ham, but the Korean forward is expected to be fit on Sunday. As club captain, Son is undoubtedly the most important player in the Tottenham squad and he been in great form all season – scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 15 league appearances.
Son's record against Newcastle is decent enough with four goals and two assists in 14 appearances agains the Magpies. If Tottenham are to get the win on Sunday, then you feel he will need to add to that tally at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Key trend
The Newcastle vs Tottenham last five H2Hs suggest that it would be a huge surprise if both teams don't get on the scoresheet on Sunday afternoon. The last time one team failed to score against the other in a H2H was in 2019 and considering how injury-ravaged both defences are, it's safe to assume this trend won't be broken here. We are going for a Tottenham win but don't anticipate another 5-1 or 6-1.
