Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an inquiry for Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish following the injury to James Maddison.

Spurs had been long-term admirers of Grealish, having reportedly tried to sign him during the summer window of 2018 when he was at Aston Villa.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, then Tottenham manager, the north London club made a bid of around £25m for Grealish, but Villa refused to sell their prized asset.

The England international moved to City three years later in the summer of 2021, where he scored 17 goals in 157 games in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side.

While the stylish attacking midfielder won three Premier League titles with the Sky Blues, his future at the Etihad Stadium looks as good as over after he was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup.

Everton have been reportedly linked with a move for Grealish, and now Spurs have joined the race, with Sports Mole reporting that contact has been made in the wake of Maddison’s injury.

Maddison picked up a knee problem in Sunday’s 1-1 friendly draw with Newcastle United in South Korea, where he looked distraught as he was stretchered off the field.

Grealish has two more years on his current contract at City, but the Sky Blues could be open to offers either on loan or a permanent exit.

Despite the 29-year-old being hailed as a “fighter” by Guardiola last season, he started only seven Premier League matches but did manage to contribute three goals and five assists across 32 total appearances.

Grealish would be a fantastic signing for Spurs, and he can be lured with the offer of Champions League football. The England forward is currently valued at around £24m, but his high wages could prove to be a stumbling block.
