After failing to sign Eberechi Eze, Tottenham are now reportedly considering a move for a player valued at €70m (£61m), long linked with PSG in past transfer windows.

Despite their Europa League success last season and participation in the Champions League, Tottenham are no longer seen as a first-choice destination for emerging talent. Eze ultimately joined Arsenal, while Morgan Gibbs-White extended his contract at Nottingham Forest. With James Maddison sidelined through injury, Spurs remain in the market for a creative midfielder.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are now tracking Maghnes Akliouche. The attacking midfielder has recently been non-committal about his future at AS Monaco. Although PSG had been a credible destination for the 23-year-old, the French club have opted not to pursue any further signings this summer, leaving the path clear for Tottenham.

Spurs could outshine PSG in Akliouche race

Even with PSG stepping back, Tottenham are not guaranteed to secure the French midfielder. AS Monaco are aware of Akliouche’s potential and will not enter discussions for their No. 11 unless a €70m offer is tabled.

Italian side Inter Milan had also shown interest, but they are unlikely to meet Monaco’s valuation. Manchester City were reportedly in the running, but with the arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, that door is now closed. A transfer to Tottenham is becoming increasingly plausible, provided the Spurs are willing to meet the €70m asking price.
