Tottenham transfer news: Big boost for Real Madrid in Micky van de Ven pursuit?

The defensive sector has been particularly affected at Real Madrid since last season and Micky van de Ven is one of their top target.

Despite five centre-backs present within the Real Madrid squad, this sector is one of the most fragile at the club. David Alaba is constantly injured, likewise for Eder Militao, victim of a relapse after his return to form. Dean Huijsen is also absent, therefore only Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger remain available, two players who are clearly not confident in recent months.

For Real Madrid, recruiting a new centre-back is therefore a priority. According to information from TEAMtalk, the Spanish club are still interested in Micky van de Ven. Sources have moreover indicated to the British outlet that the Dutch defender does not intend to extend his Tottenham contract, whilst the English club are precisely seeking to renew his deal. A refusal that could play in the Merengues' favour.

Van de Ven, Real Madrid's next rock?

Having arrived at Tottenham in summer 2024, Micky van de Ven is still under contract until June 2029. His stock has increased considerably and he is now valued at €65m (£56m) on Transfermarkt. Knowing that the Dutch defender does not want to extend, Spurs could consider a medium-term sale. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba reach the end of their contracts at the end of the season and Real Madrid would certainly like to replace them with a younger and less physically fragile player.

Besides Micky van de Ven, Real Madrid are also thinking about French defenders Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano, who will be free next summer if they do not extend. But these are complicated cases with numerous suitors and lengthy negotiations. Regarding the 24-year-old player, it would not be surprising if at the end of the season, he wants to take a step up in his career. The Madrid giants would welcome him with great pleasure.
