With just over a week remaining of the 2024 summer transfer window, several Tottenham striker targets have emerged in recent days.
Top-four hopefuls Spurs knew it would be a tough ask to replace club-record goalscorer Harry Kane, but they have given it a good effort.
Last summer, they brought in Richarlison from Everton, but he only managed to score 11 league goals, so a lot of pressure will now fall on the shoulders of Dominic Solanke.
The England international is the club's most expensive signing in history, costing them £60 million, but it was a less-than-impressive debut. Solanke managed three shots on target but fired them all down Mads Hermansen's throat.
As such, we expect that Ange Postecoglou will be keeping an eye on the centre-forward market for any backup, either to aid Solanke or maybe even replace him already.
First up, a man who Arsenal have been after for quite a while, but one who may instead be lured to the white half of North London.
Tottenham striker targets
Santiago Gimenez
When considering how closely Gimenez has been linked with Arsenal in the past, the sight of him holding a Spurs shirt aloft would be quite the headline-stealer.
It was a sort of breakout season for Gimenez last time out, with the Mexican scoring over 20 league goals for the first time. The campaign before that was impressive, as he hit double figures in his debut Eredivisie season, but he's now seemingly edging for a move away.
Gimenez still has three years left to run on his deal, but after Nottingham Forest's opening bid for the striker, he's clearly on the market. At the age of 23, the Mexican international may be more willing to take a backseat role for this season, making him potentially more attainable.
The only worry when looking into Gimenez's form last season is that he started in red-hot fashion, before worryingly tailing off as more teams apparently figured him out. The striker only scored four goals in his last 12 league appearances for Feyenoord, so this will be a big campaign for him no matter who he plays for.
Jonathan David
Jonathan David has been tipped to leave Lille for several seasons now, and this summer appeared to be the most likely option, given that he has one year left on his contract. However, the Canadian international scored after coming off the bench in Lille's first win of the season over the weekend.
David has proved himself to be one of the deadliest finishers in Europe, having never finished a season without hitting double figures for goals throughout his professional career. So, with just one year left on his deal and Lille presumably willing sellers, Spurs could do much worse than lodge a bid.
Tottenham now have Solanke as their number-one striker, but with clubs in Saudi Arabia keen on Richarlison, David could be his replacement. The Canadian, standing at just five feet nine inches, is a different striker from Solanke, so he could be more of a ‘fox in the box' for Postecoglou.
It remains to be seen whether or not Tottenham could persuade David to join the club, having just recruited Solanke. The current Lille man would not likely come in as first choice, so it could be a tough sell.
Viktor Gyokeres
Certainly the most expensive option on this list, which may have been more realistic before Solanke's signing. Viktor Gyokeres tore up the Portuguese league last season, registering 38 goal involvements in just 33 appearances.
The Swedish striker has already picked up where he left off by scoring three goals in his opening two Liga Nos matches. It's believed that Gyokeres has an £86 million release clause, but with him not even in his prime yet, that could be a bargain for some clubs.
As mentioned above, this move appears unlikely, with Solanke now leading the line. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see Tottenham regret not attempting to sign Gyokeres if he ends up coming to the Premier League.
