Hot Tip – Brentford to Win

  • Sheff Utd have lost four of their last six league games.

Another reason that we have backed Brentford to win as our main prediction is that the visitors sit fourteen points and nine places above the Blades in the Premier League table.

Sheffield Utd vs Brentford team news

Sheff Utd

Chris Wilder's return didn't bring about any points for the Blades in midweek but in fairness, they were playing host to Liverpool. A goal in each half saw Liverpool claim a 2-0 victory against a well-organised Sheff Utd side. Chris Basham, Rhys Norrington-Davies, John Egan, Tom Davies, Daniel Jebbison, Rhian Brewster and George Baldock are all injury concerns for the hosts, while Oliver McBurnie is suspended.

Predicted Lineup: Foderingham (GK), Robinson, Ahmedhodžić, Trusty, Bogle, Hamer, Souza, McAtee, Brooks, Archer & Osula

Brentford

Brentford got off to a bright start away at Brighton on Wednesday night, taking the lead via a Bryan Mbeumo penalty. However, this proved to be a false dawn as the Seagulls equalised just after the half-hour mark and took the lead early in the second half with what turned out to be the winning goal. Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, Kristoffer Ajer, Nathan Collins, Mathias Jensen, Joshua Dasilva and Bryan Mbeumo could all miss the trip to Sheffield through injury, but Christian Norgaard is back after a brief suspension.

Predicted Lineup: Flekken (GK), Mee, Roerslev, Pinnock, Janelt, Onyeka, Wissa, Baptiste, Lewis-Potter, Ghoddos & Maupay

Player to Watch: Neal Maupay

Brentford on-loan Everton striker Neal Maupay has been in decent form of late, scoring two goals in his last five league games for the Bees.

Following a terrible start to his Everton career in which the French forward only scored one goal, Maupay returned to his former club Brentford in the summer transfer window and has started to rebuild his career as well as his reputation.

Maupay has always been a hardworking forward but the goals haven't really flowed since he made the step up to the Premier League with his best total being ten goals in the 2019/20 season with Brighton. We will have our eyes on Maupay this weekend as the striker will surely be in with a chance of adding to his goals tally against the worst defense in the Premier League this season.
