Coventry may only have three points, but they are only three points from 12th-placed Manchester United, so they are not cut adrift in the relegation zone.

Frank Lampard's side managed to beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 before the international break, and they deserve credit for overcoming their defensive woes away from home.

It should also be remembered that three of the club's four losses this season have come against Manchester City, Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion, three of the division's best teams so far.

In terms of injury news, Coventry should be able to welcome back right wing-back Milan van Ewijk after the 26-year-old returned to training during the week.

Newcastle come into Monday's clash having only lost once in the Premier League so far – a 4-1 away defeat against Leeds United on September 14 – and their campaign has been surprisingly positive.

Many predicted that new boss Matthias Jaissle would struggle to fill the void left by Eddie Howe, especially given the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali left, but his side are currently just two points from fourth-placed Brentford.

Toon's record against Coventry is outstanding given they have won six of the last seven meetings with their hosts while remaining unbeaten, but the two clubs have not faced each other since 2010.

Newcastle could have midfielders Joelinton (groin) and Nico Gonzalez (concussion) available for Monday's game, though there are doubts about the fitness of stars like Anthony Elanga and Dan Burn.

Whispers predicts: Coventry City 1-2 Newcastle United

With Newcastle enjoying a positive season so far, it should perhaps not be a surprise to see the bookmakers back an away win at 23/20 (2.15).

Given both teams have scored in five of Newcastle's seven games this season, a strong starting bet would be to back Both Teams to Score at 4/7 (1.57).

Newcastle have scored two or more goals in five of their seven matches this term, so it would make sense to predict Over 1.5 Goals for Newcastle at 10/11 (1.91).

Joe Willock has already scored twice in the league, and he has averaged the most shots per 90 in the top flight this season for Newcastle (3.1), and it may be worthwhile to back Joe Willock to Score at 9/2 (5.5).

📈 Coventry City vs. Newcastle United — Whispers' Tips

> Both Teams to Score at 4/7 (1.57) | Likelihood: High

> Over 1.5 Goals for Newcastle at 10/11 (1.91) | Likelihood: Medium

> Joe Willock to Score at 9/2 (5.5) | Likelihood: Low
