Reading to win
What is going on at Reading? Last season they hit form towards the end of the campaign giving signs they could kick on this season. Then came the summer and a slow start but now the Royals are flying – we think that journey continues here as they beat Sunderland. Reading have won four of their last five games. Sunderland meanwhile have lost three of their past five matches. Combine that form with a head to head record that puts Reading on top with a 3-1 record (one draw) across the last five and it does not look great for Sunderland!
Someone will blank
Our next prediction for this game sees us backing at least one side to keep a clean sheet. It's a pretty easy bet to explain too with both teams having seen four of their past five games end with a ‘nil' in the final scoreline. In fact, Sunderland have seen each of their last five end that way. Convert that to percentages and it means both sides have seen 80% of their last five end in the ‘no' outcome – therefore odds of 5/6 (1.83) give us real value.

A meeting between two surprise packages
It would be fair to say that both of these sides are surprising a few people in the early part of the campaign. Reading are currently sitting up in third – a place nobody thought they would be remotely close to after how last year panned out – whilst Sunderland are eighth in the standings despite many tipping them to struggle now they are back at a higher level than where they had previously been.
Reading might have made a good start to the season but things could get even better for the Royals. They've got a few players missing. Liam Moore, Oviemuno Ejaria and Yakou Meite are amongst those who are definitely missing from this game but experienced centre back Scott Dann couple be back in contention.
Reading Predicted lineup – Lumley, Holmes, Hutchinson, McIntyre, Yiadom, Ince, Hendrick, Fornah, Hoilett, Long, Joao
Sunderland will know they face a big task when heading south for this match and it will be that little bit tougher with Dan Ballard and Niall Huggins rules out.
Sunderland Predicted lineup – Patterson, Cirkin, Batth, O'Nien, Gooch, Neil, Evans, Clark, Roberts, Pritchard, Simms
