Millwall vs Leeds United H2H record

Sunday's fixture will be the 39th time that Millwall and Leeds United have met, and it is Leeds who hold the narrowest advantage so far.

  • Millwall wins: 16
  • Draws: 5
  • Leeds United wins: 17

Since 2004, this has been a relatively regular match given the two clubs have been in the same league over the majority of that period. They would clash much more sporadically prior to this, with the first meeting coming in 1931, where Millwall won 1-0.

Millwall vs Leeds United recent H2Hs, since the start of 2004, has seen Leeds hold a considerable advantage by winning 10 of the 20 matches, and Millwall claiming seven wins.

The last H2H game staged at The Den saw Millwall emerge as 2-1 winners, with Tom Bradshaw amongst the goals, and he is expected to start once more on Sunday.

Last time out…

A high octane thriller at Elland Road in January 2020 went the way of Leeds after successfully overcoming a 2-0 half-time deficit to claim a memorable 3-2 victory. Under then legendary boss Marcelo Bielsa, this turnaround victory propelled them to the top of the Championship table.

They would go on to eventual win promotion as champions in a much-delayed season impacted by Covid, whereas Millwall would narrowly miss out on the play-offs by two points. Perhaps holding onto the win here would have given them a shot of a top-six spot.

Millwall vs Leeds United H2H: Potential MVP

Leeds lost key wingers in the form of Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra prior to the transfer window closes, but manager Daniel Farke has recruited Jaidon Anthony from AFC Bournemouth, who should debut.

The 23-year-old excelled in his only full season in this league in 2021/22, netting eight goals to help his side earn promotion as runners-up. He makes this move in search of more regular football, so he is desperate to impress and prove his worth.

With Farke favouring wide men that hog the touchline, this plays right into the strengths on Anthony, who loves nothing more than to get the ball at his feet and drive at the opposing full back.

That sole full season in the Championship was also his breakthrough season as a professional, and he would go on to make 30 Premier League appearances the following year.

Millwall: Players in focus

Commanding defender always pivotal

Jake Cooper is one of the first names on the team sheet at Millwall and him signing a new contract recently, despite being linked with a move previously.

Scottish striker settled quickly into new home

Kevin Nisbet played his entire career in Scottish football prior to joining Millwall this summer, and two early goals for his new club suggests he is more than at home in the English capital.

Talented Dutchman the go-to man for Millwall

Zian Flemming netted 15 goals in his debut campaign for the club last season and now the transfer window has closed he can focus all his attentions on his current club. He was heavily linked with a transfer away.

Leeds United: Players in focus

One of the best leads the Leeds line

Joel Piroe has proved over the last few years for Swansea that he is one of, if not the, best strikers in the Championship. He took only 19 minutes to score on his Leeds debut last month.

Tricky winger here to stay

Wilfried Gnonto may have tried his best to leave Leeds at one point in the last transfer window, but now that matter has been resolved, all of his focus is on trying to get this club back into the Premier League. He is Premier League quality himself.

One of their own excelling in midfield

Archie Gray has looked more than at home since Daniel Farke handed him a chance in pre-season. Leeds love a youth prospect and his tenacity will be key against a robust Millwall.

Final Prediction

A lack of consistency is why Millwall and Leeds United are currently positioned in mid-table, but recent signings from the away side means they can enter this tricky away meeting in decent spirits. Millwall will also be suitable motivated to defeat a likely promotion contender. We like the look of Leeds edging this, with Joel Piroe scoring.
