The 2026 World Cup quarter-finals are here, and to kick things off, we have a repeat of a 2022 semi-final as France take on Morocco in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
The match is an opportunity for revenge for the Atlas Lions, but the French team they will face tonight is arguably even better than the one they lost 2-0 to four years ago in Qatar.
There are superstars in almost every position for Les Bleus, but the biggest of all is Kylian Mbappe. The Real Madrid striker is having a stunning World Cup, but the bookies have still managed to undervalue him in one key market. Let's take a look.
Kylian Mbappe to have over 2.5 shots on target

Mbappe has been priced at 6/5 to have three or more shots on target against Morocco on Friday night, which implies there is a 45.5% chance of the Frenchman working Bounou 3+ times.
While three shots on target may seem a lot, Mbappe is comfortably playing to this average at the World Cup. In five of his last six competitive appearances for France, Mbappe has registered a minimum of three shots on target, and there is no reason to think that will suddenly change here.
Across his five World Cup appearances this summer, the 27-year-old has had more shots on target (17) than any other player in the competition. This works out at an average of 3.4 shots on target per match.
While the counterargument could be that Morocco are stronger defensively than France's previous opponents, it doesn't stack up. Paraguay, their opponents in the round of 16, had only conceded two goals before meeting France. Morocco, meanwhile, have already conceded four World Cup goals this summer.
France vs Morocco: Mbappe is on a mission
Beyond wanting to help his team, there are a few personal incentives for Mbappe, too, which should see him pepper the Moroccan goal.
He is currently one goal behind Lionel Messi in the race for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot, while he is two behind the Argentinian when it comes to who has scored the most goals in World Cup history.
If Mbappe wants to cement his legacy on the world stage, he needs goals, and to score goals, he needs to register shots on target.
