Both teams to score

Eight of Midtjylland's last nine games have seen goals at both ends.

Ajax will be aiming for back-to-back Conference League victories when they travel to the MCH Arena to face Danish giants Midtjylland.

For the hosts, Thursday’s game is all about reigniting their continental campaign, having collected just one point from a possible six so far.

Aiming to join Chelsea as the only club to have secured every major European trophy, Ajax entered this season’s Conference League among the early favourites, but a 2-1 defeat to Hajduk Split represented a less-than-ideal start.

Michel’s men responded immediately with a 2-0 triumph over Atalanta, as Tolu Arokodare netted his 100th career goal. He has since scored in back-to-back matches against Sparta Rotterdam and most recently AZ Alkmaar, both ending in Ajax victories to extend their winning run to four matches.

Returning to continental action for the final time before the November international break, De Godenzonen will look to continue their climb up the UECL standings as they travel to Denmark currently sitting outside the guaranteed knockout places in 13th.

With all three of their Conference League goals so far coming in the second half, Ajax will hope for a faster start, having opened the scoring in eight of their last nine matches, with last month’s loss at Hajduk being the only exception.

Despite ongoing injury concerns among their attacking options, Thursday’s visitors still possess enough firepower to pose a significant threat and will be aiming to extend their winning run over Midtjylland to three from three meetings.

After four Europa League campaigns in the past five seasons, Midtjylland failed to progress through the qualifiers this time and had to settle for Conference League football. Their introduction to Europe’s newest competition has been far from smooth.

Mike Tullberg’s side have excelled domestically, currently topping the Danish Superliga, but their continental campaign has been less impressive, with just a draw and a defeat from their opening two matches against Egnatia and Sint-Truidense.

Having won four of their last five matches, the Boys of the Moor are seeking their first UECL victory, arguably in their best form of the season, as Tullberg approaches his 70th match in charge since taking over in September 2025.

However, Midtjylland’s poor record against Dutch opponents – no wins from six previous meetings with Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, and Ajax – leaves room for pessimism ahead of Thursday’s encounter.

Former Ajax defender Rasmus Kristensen will hope to inspire his current side, but he will be without fellow defenders Martin Erlic and Magnus Jensen, as well as first-choice goalkeeper Elias Olafsson, who has not featured since September.

Whispers predicts: Midtjylland 1-2 Ajax

Midtjylland’s strong home form this season and Ajax’s impressive away record suggest that neither side will be content with a draw. That said, we are backing Ajax to come out on top at 7/5 (2.40).

Both teams have scored in eight of Midtjylland’s last nine matches, making BTTS – Yes at 2/5 (1.40) a strong selection.

Tolu Arokodare has scored in three consecutive matches, so at 19/20 (1.95) to find the net anytime on Thursday, he looks a solid option, and the Coral welcome offer gives fans an opportunity to back the in-form Nigerian.
