🔥 Our Hot tip

Both teams to score – Yes

Trabzonspor have scored at least twice in each of their last seven competitive matches, but Freiburg possess enough attacking quality to trouble the hosts. The visitors have also been involved in several high-scoring games this season, making goals at both ends an appealing selection.

Trabzonspor are looking to extend their winning run when they welcome Freiburg to Papara Park on Thursday in the third matchday of the 2026-27 UEFA Conference League league phase.

The Turkish side have made an excellent start to their European campaign, collecting six points from their opening two matches against KuPS and Hearts and winning seven consecutive matches across all competitions, while the visitors arrive in Turkey after consecutive domestic victories over Wolfsburg and Augsburg, but their European campaign has been less convincing.

Trabzonspor have been one of the most impressive teams in Turkey in recent weeks, with Thomas Reis establishing a winning rhythm.

The Black Sea Storm followed their 4-2 victory away to KuPS in the Conference League with a 2-0 home success against Besiktas, before recording a 2-0 win over Hearts in their second European outing.

Their domestic form has been equally encouraging, having come from behind to beat Caykur Rizespor 4-3 before overcoming Gaziantep 2-0 on Sunday, extending their winning run to seven matches across all competitions.

The hosts have also been particularly productive in front of goal, scoring at least twice in each of their last seven competitive outings.

Trabzonspor could achieve a notable European milestone, as a third consecutive victory in major European competition would be their first such run since November 2013, while winning their first three matches of a European campaign would be only the second time they have managed that feat.

Their home form gives them a good opportunity, having won six consecutive matches at Papara Park.

There is no previous competitive meeting against the visitors, while the Black Sea side’s record against German opposition is also limited, with their previous UEFA encounter against a German club coming against Bochum in the 1997-98 UEFA Cup.

Trabzonspor have several injury concerns ahead of Thursday's match, as Aral Simsir and Franculino were unavailable for the recent fixture against Gaziantep, while Cihan Canak and Onuralp Cevikkan are also carrying muscle problems and are doubtful.

Arseniy Batagov is expected to remain out with a hamstring injury, while Ruslan Malinovskyi and Okay Yokuslu are also sidelined.

Paul Onuachu has also been listed among Trabzonspor's injury concerns, while Sidny Lopes Cabral is suspended following his dismissal against Hearts.

Mohamed Salah has scored in both of the club's Conference League matches so far and should again be an important figure in the final third.

Julian Schuster's side beat Jablonec before suffering a 3-0 defeat away to Monaco, leaving them with three points from their first two fixtures in this competition.

Freiburg have recovered from consecutive defeats against Bayer Leverkusen, Monaco and Bayern Munich by beating Wolfsburg 3-2 in the DFB-Pokal before securing a 2-1 away victory over Augsburg.

However, the visitors have struggled to maintain consistency away from home in European competition, losing four of their last five such matches.

Freiburg are expected to be without Philipp Treu, who has an ankle injury, while Florent Muslija remains a long-term absentee with a cruciate ligament injury.

Schuster is likely to rely on the experience of Matthias Ginter and Philipp Lienhart at the back, while Vincenzo Grifo and the attacking players will be expected to provide the creativity going forward.

Whispers predicts: Trabzonspor 2-1 Freiburg

The hosts have won seven consecutive matches and have been particularly strong at Papara Park, giving them the edge against a Freiburg side with a poor recent European away record, making home win at 2.39 (139/100) a decent pick.

Trabzonspor have scored at least twice in each of their last seven competitive matches, while Freiburg's recent games have also produced plenty of goals, making both teams to score at 1.45 (9/20) and over 2.5 goals at 1.55 (11/20) solid picks.
