Marseille vs PSG correct score betting: Can unstoppable PSG win 16 of the last 20 Le Classiques?

As has happened in many seasons in recent memory, there is a vast chasm that has opened up between the two contestants of Le Classique, PSG and Marseille. Les Parisiens are an enormous 20 points ahead of their old rivals heading into this one.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the Marseille vs PSG correct score betting market.

Most common scoreline

Historically, this has been a fairly even contest, with 49 wins for PSG, 35 for Marseille and 21 draws since the two giants first met in 1971.

Since the Parisian side were purchased by Qatar Sports Investments in early 2011 and subsequent heavy investment in the club, honours are far less even. PSG have notched 24 wins to their great rival’s 5 in that period.

In the last five, PSG have won four and lost just once, in last season’s Coupe de France tie in February 2023. Ruslan Malinovskyi scored an incredible volley to take the lead just before the hour mark and the cacophonous atmosphere of the Stade Velodrome helped OM see the game out.

Marseille will look to draw upon the spirit of that game to best their old enemy once again. PSG are of course favourites, but Marseille’s incredible home atmosphere could help them produce something special. They also have the best home record in Ligue 1, still unbeaten.

  • Draw 1-1 – 13/2
  • PSG win 2-1 – 17/2
  • PSG win 1-0 – 11/1
  • Marseille win 2-1 – 12/1

Correct score HT

In the last five iterations of Le Classique, PSG have led on three occasions at half-time, with the remainder being 1-1 at the break.

Marseille have had the advantage at half-time in three of their last five games, but the two times they have trailed in that period have been their last two, defeats to Rennes and Villareal.

PSG have also led at half time thrice in their last five matches. They have trailed at the break once and been level once.

  • Draw 0-0 – 5/2
  • PSG 1-0 – 18/5
  • Marseille 1-0 – 5-1
  • Draw 1-1 – 6/1

  • 2 goals – 3/1
  • 3 goals – 3/1
  • 4 goals – 4/1
  • 1 goal – 11/2

Total goals under/over

Both teams to score

Interestingly, PSG have managed to keep clean sheets in three of their last four wins over Marseille. In fact, they have kept seven clean sheets in the last ten Classiques, making both teams to score far from a certainty.

In their last five, Marseille have seen both teams score just twice. PSG, meanwhile, have seen both teams score in all but one of their previous five fixtures.

  • Yes – 4/7
  • No – 31/20

Team to score first

PSG have netted the opener against Marseille in a remarkable four of the last five iterations of Le Classique. The only exception was an early Alexis Sanchez penalty in last season’s 2-1 defeat at Stade Velodrome.

PSG have scored first in three of their last five, conceding first in one, and one 0-0 draw against Monaco.

Marseille have also scored first in three of their last five, but have conceded first in two.

  • PSG to score first – 10/13
  • No goals – 18/1
  • Marseille to score first -13/10

Team to score last

PSG have also scored the final goal in this hallowed fixture in four of the last five clashes, with the only exception being the aforementioned stunner from Ruslan Malinovskyi just over a year ago.

Marseille have an excellent record of late goals, however. They have scored last in all but one of their five fixtures, with two coming in stoppage time.

With as experienced a goal-getter as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line, don’t bet against Marseille snatching one late, even if it is just a consolation. That much is expressed in their shortened odds

PSG, meanwhile, have only scored the final goal in two of their last five fixtures.

  • PSG to score last – 10/13
  • No goals – 16/1
  • Marseille to score last -5/4
