Bayern v Dortmund correct score betting: Bayern to go stunning 12 unbeaten in Die Klassiker?

A rare phenomenon is taking place in the Bundesliga this weekend. The league’s most famous and hotly anticipated game, Die Klassiker, between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, is taking place, but neither side really has a hope of winning the Bundesliga.

With these lower stakes in mind, let’s take a look at the Bayern v Dortmund correct score betting market. Both sides trail far behind the seemingly invincible Bayer Leverkusen. Both sides will be more focussed on their blockbuster Champions League ties

Most common scoreline

Bayern come into this game with a superb recent record against Die Schwarzgelben. Thomas Tuchel’s side have not lost to Dortmund since the Super Cup in August 2019.

The victorious Dortmund side that day featured Paco Alcacer and Achraf Hakimi, to put into perspective how much water has flowed under the bridge since.

At the Allianz Arena, Bayern are even more dominant. They have won seven in a row on home soil.

However, unusually for Dortmund, given the cacophonous reputation of Signal Iduna Park, they have actually performed better away than at home this season. They are third placed in the away league table, but only fifth in the home equivalent.

Dortmund have not lost away from home since November, perhaps imbuing them with some confidence against a Bayern side far from their best.

But Bayern are still the bookmakers favourite.

  • Bayern win 2-1 – 17/2
  • Bayern win 3-1 – 10/1
  • Bayern win 2-0 – 12/1
  • Draw 1-1 – 12/1

Correct score – HT

In the last five iterations of this fixture, Bayern have led 2-0 at half time on three occasions. Remarkably consistent. The other two have been 2-1 and 3-0 leads for Bayern at half-time.

Bayern have scored in all of their last five first halves. They’ve scored once on two occasions, twice on a further two occasions and three once.

Dortmund have also netted in the previous five first halves, scoring two on three occasions and once twice.

All things point to both teams scoring early, but let’s take a look at what the bookmakers think.

  • Bayern 1-0 – 7/2
  • Draw 0-0 – 5/1
  • Draw 1-1 – 6/1
  • Bayern 2-1 – 11/1

Total goals exact

Both these sides have had seasons characterised by high-scoring games. Blistering in attack, but leaky at the back.

In their past five, Bayern have seen 26 goals. Dortmund have seen 16. And in their last five clashes, there have been 23 goals between the pair.

  • 4 – 7/2
  • 3 – 15/4
  • 5 – 9/2
  • 7+ – 11/2

Total goals under/over

Keeping with the goals theme, the bookmakers clearly expect a high scoring game, as the over market has seen odds shortened dramatically.

  • Over 4.5 goals – 6/4
  • Over 5.5 goals – 13/4
  • Under 3.5 goals – 13/10

Both teams to score

As illustrated above, both of these clubs have seen goals galore in their recent fixtures.

In their last five meetings, Bayern and Dortmund have both scored in all but one match, this season's Dortmund 0-4 Bayern.

In their respective last five matches, both teams have scored in four of Bayern’s last five games, and three of Dortmund’s last five games.

  • Yes – 2/5
  • No – 23/10

Team to score first

As shown in the correct score at half-time analysis, Bayern often race ahead early in these fixtures. Bayern have also scored first in three of their last five matches.

Dortmund have often had to scramble goals back in this fixture, but have also scored first in three of their last five games.

  • Bayern to score first – 4/9
  • Dortmund to score first – 9/4

Team to score last

Dortmund have clawed back consolation goals against their rivals in two of their five previous matchups, but Bayern have piled misery on on three occasions.

Bayern have scored last in four of their last five, and Dortmund have scored last last in three of their last five.

Dortmund are more likely to score last than first, but Bayern are still the bookies’ favourite in this market.

  • Bayern to score last – 4/9
  • Dortmund to score last – 9/4
