The former manager of Manchester United, Ajax and Leverkusen could be on the verge of a return to English football. Transfer speculation suggests the Dutch coach is being lined up for a struggling Premier League side.

Ten Hag's turbulent spell at Old Trafford

Erik ten Hag was ridiculed by the public during his stay at Old Trafford, particularly by fans. The iconic Dutch manager made several controversial decisions in terms of transfers, such as bringing in Onana or Antony. However, both players have since flourished in their new roles, as have most of the players who departed under his tenure.

Even Ruben Amorim failed to achieve great things with the team immediately after he arrived, and only now has he started to have more success. This raises questions about whether the much-ridiculed Erik ten Hag was truly to blame for Manchester's struggles, or whether the club's deeper issues have persisted since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.

Wolves targeting Dutch manager

Erik ten Hag's most recent position was at Leverkusen, where he did not stay long and was dismissed after just two matches. In his defence, it must be said that the team had lost several major stars prior to his arrival, leaving him with a significantly weakened squad.

According to The Athletic, the Dutch manager is now the main candidate for Vitor Pereira's position at hopelessly bottom-placed Wolverhampton. The Molineux outfit are desperate for fresh ideas and leadership as they battle to avoid relegation, and Ten Hag's experience at the highest level could prove invaluable in their survival fight.
