Authenticity (3.5/5): Ramos emerges as striker option for Man Utd
Manchester United‘s search for a new striker suffered a blow when Chelsea agreed a deal with Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, who was seen as the Red Devils' priority target. Now, United could turn to Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos.
The story comes from the Daily Mail, who add the Portuguese was also linked to United before moving to PSG from Benfica.
Value (2.5/5): PSG open to sell
The Champions League winners signed Ramos in a deal worth around £67million, but Luis Enrique doesn't appear to be his huge admirer, with the Spaniard using Ousmane Dembele as a false nine to great effect. As such, it should be easy to convince PSG to sell. However, the Ligue 1 giants are unlikely to accept a major loss on their investment. They adopted a similar stance during the negotiations for Manuel Ugarte as well.
Suitability (4/5): Technically promising striker
Ramos is known for his ability to drop deep and link up with his teammates, owing to his technical prowess and positional awareness. The Portugal international, who scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup, is also a top finisher, having scored 18 goals in all competitions this term despite limited minutes.
Upgrade? (4.5/5): Better than what United have
Ramos might not be the most exciting name available in the transfer market, but considering United's current options, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, the PSG number nine still appears to be a significant upgrade.
Logic (3.5/5): Better move
Ramos is still 23 and could develop into a brilliant striker if he is provided regular gametime and the right environment to maximise his potential. Ruben Amorim could certainly guarantee minutes.
Whisper+ verdict: 18/25
If PSG agree to a cut-price deal, Ramos could become a strong option for United, who are desperate for a new striker.
