Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3.5/5): Local source reports United's interest
As noted earlier today in our transfer writer Anthony's verdict, the report comes from newspaper Mundo Deportivo, who always have their finger on the pulse of what's going on in Barcelona.
Value (3/5): Barcelona's stance remains unknown
The 28-year-old has around 18 months left on his contract at Camp Nou, and he is valued at £16.5 million by Transfermarkt. However, it remains unclear what Barca, should they decide to part ways with him in January, would demand from his suitors. It is suggested that Juve will ask for a loan move.
Suitability (3/5): Elite in possession
Christensen is a technically proficient centre-back, capable of also playing in the middle of the park, owing to his impeccable positional awareness and calmness in possession. As such, he could slot in at different positions under both Ruben Amorim and Thiago Motta.
Upgrade? (2.5/5): United have better options
As far as central defenders are concerned, United are blessed with many options. They strengthened their backline by signing Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt during the summer, and also boast the likes of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez. All appear to be better and more resilient than the Barca star.
Logic (2/5): Juventus move more appealing
Owing to a major injury, Christensen has only featured once under Hansi Flick this season. At the moment, a move away from the Catalan giants seems to be his best option.
The Old Lady in Italy have struggled in their own third due to the unavailability of Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. As such, they are better suited to provide him with regular game time.
Whisper+ verdict: 14/25
The source is relatively reliable, but this analysis is more sceptical, considering United's priorities and their options. Therefore, a move for Christensen may be less likely than first thought.
