The relationship between Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United has significantly deteriorated in recent weeks. The English club has made a decision regarding the future of their midfielder.
A few days ago, Bruno Fernandes publicly criticised his club's hierarchy, accusing them of trying to sell him last summer. An attack denied by the board which has cooled relations between the two parties. Despite wearing the captain's armband, the Portuguese midfielder's status has been weakened due to his comments in the press. The rift now seems complete between Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United.
According to information from Football Insider, Manchester United have made their choice regarding Bruno Fernandes— he has been given the green light to leave. The Red Devils want to sell him and are even considering a departure during the winter transfer window. Should a satisfactory offer arrive, the Premier League giants will allow the 31-year-old to leave. Having arrived almost six years ago at Old Trafford, Bruno Fernandes is evidently on the verge of closing his chapter with the Mancunians.
Bruno Fernandes to dominate the winter market
Under contract until June 2027, the Portuguese international is valued at £34m on specialist site Transfermarkt. It should be noted that Bruno Fernandes has a release clause in his contract, set at around £51m, but which can only be activated by clubs not playing in the Premier League. Saudi Arabia still dreams of recruiting him, whilst Bayern Munich have also been interested for several years.
It remains to be seen what choice Bruno Fernandes will make. At Bayern Munich, he would have the opportunity to win trophies with a club that dominates the German championship and is considered one of the favourites to win the Champions League. Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, the former Sporting CP player could sign a lucrative contract, without losing his place in Roberto Martinez's World Cup squad. Bruno Fernandes will need to make a decision in the coming days.
