Man City vs Man Utd H2H record
Man City and Man Utd have played each other 191 times in the past and despite City currently being the superior outfit, the red half of Manchester reigns supreme when it comes to the overall head-to-head record.
- Man City Wins: 60
- Draws: 53
- Man Utd Wins: 78
Up until 2008, when Man City were purchased by Sheikh Mansour, the gap between Man Utd victories and Man City victories in this fixture was far wider. However, in recent years, City have dominated the fixture across all competitions and have inflicted some heavy defeats on their red rivals, most notably the 6-1 win at Old Trafford in 2011.

Man City vs Man Utd last five H2Hs
Man Utd 0-3 Man City – 29th October 2023
The most recent Man City vs Man Utd H2H took place at Old Trafford in October 2023. At the time, the Reds were severely hampered by injuries but that doesn't excuse their pitiful display on home turf. City may have taken the lead via a controversial penalty but from the moment Haaland netted from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, United barely touched the ball never mind created anything of note. Haaland added a second after half time before Foden scored to make it 3-0 late on.
Man City 2-1 Man Utd – 3rd June 2023
The first-ever Manchester derby FA Cup final took place in June 2023. It took City just 12 seconds to take the lead on the day via a stunning Ilkay Gundogan volley before United fought back to equalise before half time. A David de Gea howler in the second half gifted the Blues a 2-1 lead and despite going close to equalising a few times, United failed to get back into the game. City won the cup and went on to complete the treble a week later by beating Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Man Utd 2-1 Man City – 14th January 2023
Man Utd's most recent victory over Man City came in January 2023 in controversial circumstances. City took the lead through Jack Grealish early on in the second half before Bruno Fernandes equalised despite Marcus Rashford seemingly being in an offside position and impacting play. Just a few minutes later, Rashford scored to put United 2-1 and send Old Trafford into delirium. The Reds hung on despite late pressure to secure all three points.
Man City 6-3 Man Utd – 2nd October 2022
Man City put on a spectacle in October 2022 when they put six past Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were unplayable on the day, with both men scoring a hat trick as United were run ragged all over the pitch. It took two late goals from Anthony Martial to make the scoreline more respectable, but in truth 6-3 flattered Erik Ten Hag's men.
Man City 4-1 Man Utd – 6th March 2022
Another City trouncing came in March 2022 in Ralf Rangnick's first and only Manchester derby as Man Utd Interim Manager. City took the lead early on through Kevin de Bruyne before Jadon Sancho finished nicely to make it 1-1. It didn't take long for City to go ahead again with De Bruyne scoring his second of the match before the Blues ran riot in the second half with Riyad Mahrez adding two more.

Potential MVP – Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland scored five goals in midweek against Luton Town which is the last thing Man Utd would have wanted to see. The Norweigan goal machine has missed some big chances in recent weeks, most notably in the draw against Chelsea, but has clearly found his shooting boots again which spells danger for the red half of Manchester.
Haaland scored a hat trick in this fixture last season and with his partnership with Kevin de Bruyne looking more automatic than ever, he will fancy his chances of scoring more goals against a depleted United defence.
