Team News, Preview, and Leicester vs Cardiff Lineups
Leicester
When a team drops down the leagues, it usually involves significant changes to the roster. This summer Leicester lost James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, Youri Tielemans, and Caglar Soyuncu, but managed to bring some younger options for the defensive line with Conor Coady and Harry Winks. Stephy Mavididi is proving to be a good signing in the left wing position. Mads Hermansen and Conor Coady are expected to miss the game through injury.
Expected lineup: Stolarczyk, Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Doyle, Praet, Winks, Dewsbury-Hall, Marcal-Madivadua, Iheanacho, Mavididi.
Cardiff
The Welsh side failed to win any of their two games to start the season and the problem firmly lies in the fact that the team has trouble defending their goal having conceded four in those matches. Ryan Allsop is injured.
Expected lineup: Alnwick, O'Dowda, Goutas, McGuinness, Ng, Adams, Wintle, Grant, Ramsey, Bowler, Ugbo.
Player to Watch: Kelechi Iheanacho
Even though Leicester, expectedly, lost some important players this summer as they dropped divisions, they did keep some of their young stars. One of those is Kelechi Iheanacho who should be their most important striker this season as the team tries to return to the Premier League in quick succession.
Iheanacho failed to score in the opening two league games this season, but the 25-year-old is now worried about his lack of scoring at the moment. The former Manchester City standout did score in the EFL Cup win over Burton. New manager Enzo Maresca will put his trust in the Nigerian striker who has scored a total of 56 goals over 209 appearances for Leicester.
Starting lineups
Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.
