Leeds United seek a new Ligue 1 striker as alternative to Paixao amid competition from other Premier League clubs.
Set to leave Marseille this summer, Jonathan Rowe is attracting strong interest from four Premier League clubs. With Mason Greenwood, Amine Gouiri, Igor Paixao, Timothy Weah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and possibly Edon Zhegrova as Marseille’s current attacking options, the club has a crowded offensive line-up. Perhaps too crowded. Like Neal Maupay, Faris Moumbagna and François Mughe, Rowe could be on his way out.
The English winger, who was permanently signed for €16.5 million during this window, will not be kept if a satisfactory offer is made to Marseille. According to Foot Mercato, the French club are asking for at least €20 million (£17.5m approx) for the former Norwich player.
That price tag could complicate Rowe’s departure. He is reportedly on the radar of Atalanta, AS Roma and Bologna. Notably, he has already rejected a move to Turkey despite interest from Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
Leeds United eye Jonathan Rowe as potential replacement for Igor Paixao

After a modest season with 3 goals and 4 assists in 30 appearances, the England U21 international remains a sought-after talent. According to TeamTalk, the Premier League is keen on Rowe’s profile, with four clubs, including Leeds United, interested and expected to meet Marseille’s €20m (£17.5m) valuation.
Following their failed pursuit of Igor Paixao, who joined Marseille, Leeds see Rowe as an ideal candidate to bolster their attack, capable of playing across the front line. Rowe’s 12 goals in 32 Championship games before his move to Marseille have not been forgotten in England. At just 22 years old, he still holds significant value.
