Latest transfer news today: Tottenham target Man City star after Xavi Simons as Arsenal close in on eighth signing

The 2025 summer transfer window is nearing its deadline, which means the speed at which deals will now be completed will accelerate.

Manchester United are set to be one of the busiest Premier League clubs over the final few days, with the club's defeat to Grimsby in the Carabao Cup likely to trigger a flurry of business.

Elsewhere, Newcastle have finally managed to secure the signing of a new striker in the form of Nick Woltemade. Could that move open up Alexander Isak's departure to Liverpool?

While there is nothing concrete on that deal as of yet, there is plenty happening across England. Here are the latest headlines.

Tottenham make bid for Manuel Akanji

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to have a busy end to the transfer window, with the club still in the market for a new defender. One man on their shortlist is reportedly Manuel Akanji, who is believed to be up for sale at Manchester City.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal could be agreed for £15m, but Spurs do face competition from AC Milan for his signature.

The Swiss defender joined Man City in 2022 and played more minutes than any other defender during their treble-winning season in 2022/23. However, has since fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

The news of the interest in Akanji comes immediately after the club gazumped Chelsea to the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Dutch winger is set to complete his €60m move later today after finishing his medical.

Arsenal agree sale fee for Jakub Kiwior

Arsenal and their move for Piero Hancapie from Bayer Leverkusen continues to edge closer to completion after the Gunners agreed a fee with Porto for the sale of Jakub Kiwior.

According to David Ornstein, Kiwior is set to join Porto for a fee of around €25m, but the move does hinge on the club being able to bring Hincapie in.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano suggests that deal is on the verge of completion, too. Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly accepted Arsenal's proposal of a loan with an obligation to buy, so the Ecuadorian should be an Arsenal player by the end of the transfer window.

If the deal for Hincapie does get over the line, then it would be their eighth of the summer and it could mean a change of position for Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has often been tipped to move into midfield at some point

Saudi interest in Casemiro

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is the subject of late transfer interest from Saudi Arabia, according to Brazilian outlet Trivela.

An unnamed Saudi slub has reportedly contacted the former Real Madrid about the move, but it is understood that the 33-year-old plans to see out the final year of his Man Utd contract.

While Man Utd would more than likely like to part ways with the Brazilian, the player himself wants to continue in Europe for another year so that he is well prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With a new contract at Old Trafford highly unlikely, Casemiro is expected to sign for a club in Saudi Arabia next summer.
