It is time to take a closer look at the latest transfer news today, with Premier League clubs keeping their eyes wide open for potential business deals.

One of the biggest stories of the day concerns Newcastle United’s striker conundrum, with the club already making contingency plans in case they lose another centre forward to a European giant.

Elsewhere, Chelsea’s close relationship with Strasbourg could reap major rewards in the transfer market, with the Blues sitting in pole position when it comes to the potential signing of an exciting young striker.

Here are the biggest headlines of the day…

Man City frustrated with Claudio Echeverri

According to a report by Ole, Man City are considering ending their loan deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Claudio Echeverri, with the player struggling to get game time in the Bundesliga.

The Citizens want the Argentine to play at least 50% of Leverkusen’s matches, though he has only played 172 minutes since the start of the season – well below City’s expectations.

The report suggests that the Premier League club could recall the 19-year-old from his loan in this upcoming winter window, with a view of finding another loan option – one which would guarantee a lot more game time.

Despite signing the player for over £15m in 2023, City have struggled to integrate Echeverri in the first team, particularly due to the high level of competition in midfield. The club are now worried about the lack of progression their young prospect is making during his loan spell.

Chelsea lead the race for Joaquin Panichelli

Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Argentine striker Joaquin Panichelli from Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes.

The 23-year-old, who is also being chased by Barcelona and AC Milan, has caught a lot of attention from big European clubs after scoring nine goals in 10 league matches.

Chelsea are regarded as favourites in the race for Panichelli’s signature, considering the Blues and Strasbourg are sister clubs and share the same owners – in fact, several players have already moved from across the channel.

Panichelli’s estimated market value on Transfermarkt has jumped to over £10m in recent weeks, and that number is expected to grow as the Argentine forward continues to deliver impressive results.

Newcastle set sights on Alexander Sorloth

Latest reports from Spanish outlet MARCA suggest Newcastle are keeping a close eye on Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth, with the 29-year-old outlined as a potential replacement for Nick Woltemade.

Bayern Munich are already circling the waters, looking to bring Woltemade over to the Allianz Arena as a replacement for England international Harry Kane, who could leave the club at the end of the season.

Since moving to the Premier League from Stuttgart, Woltemade has made a tremendous impact, scoring six goals across all competitions – including four strikes from his six league appearances.

Newcastle have outlined Sorloth as a potential target, and they are hopeful a deal can be reached considering the player is not getting regular game time in Madrid and currently boasts an estimated value of £22m.
