We take a closer look at the latest transfer news today, as Premier League football takes a short break for World Cup qualifiers in Europe.
We start with Manchester City who are plotting a mega January deal for an out-of-favour Real Madrid winger. The Citizens have not made the brightest start to their Premier League campaign, and they may have to splash more cash in the winter in order to keep up with their rivals.
Elsewhere, West Ham have suffered a blow to their goalkeeping ranks. Graham Potter’s side have reportedly reached out to a former player for help, meaning an emotional comeback could be on the cards.

Man City preparing for £70m January blockbuster

Man City have already outlined their main transfer target in January and are prepared to pay upwards of £70m to bring Real Madrid winger Rodrygo to the Premier League.
According to a report by Caught Offside, City boss Pep Guardiola sees Rodrygo as a ‘perfect’ fit to his squad – one which would undoubtedly bolster the attacking options at the Etihad.
The Brazilian winger is willing to leave Santiago Bernabeu in the winter after losing his spot in the starting lineup. New manager Xabi Alonso has only given Rodrygo one start since the start of the campaign, which is certainly good news for City, who remain in the market for the winger.
The 24-year-old was already liked with a transfer during the summer window but chose to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place in the team. Liverpool were one of the teams looking to sign the Brazilian, though Man City have now overtaken their Premier League rivals into pole position.
West Ham turn to club legend amid goalkeeping blow

West Ham are reportedly in talks with Lukasz Fabianski following Monday’s departure of their third goalkeeper, Wes Foderingham.
The 34-year-old left the London Stadium in order to join Cypriot outfit Aris Limassol, leaving the Irons a little short in the goalkeeping department.
Fabianski, who left the club last season but is yet to announce his next move, made over 200 appearances in seven campaigns for West Ham, becoming a fan favourite in the process.
The 40-year-old is a former Poland international and helped the Irons to a historic UEFA Europa Conference League triumph in 2023. The former Arsenal and Swansea keeper has been linked with a return to Legia Warsaw, but recent reports suggest he would prefer to remain in England for personal reasons.
Man Utd flop on verge of Old Trafford exit

Man Utd goalkeeper Andre Onana is on the brink of a season-long loan to Turkish side Trabzonspor, with all parties reportedly reaching an agreement.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Onana will travel to Turkey after the international break, where he will go through a medical and finalise his loan move.

The 29-year-old is currently with the Cameroon national team. Onana featured in their first game, helping his nation to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Eswatini. This was his first competitive outing since Man United’s embarrassing defeat to League Two’s Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup.
During his 102-game run with the Red Devils, Onana has conceded 150 goals and kept just 24 clean sheets. He has since fallen out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim, watching United’s first three Premier League games from the sidelines.
