Latest transfer news today: £89m man linked with move to France as James Trafford makes decision on his future

We are now officially in December, which means we are now less than one month away from the transfer window reopening across Europe.

The winter window isn't famed for major deals, but with several top clubs in the Premier League struggling this season, that could all be about to change.

In today's transfer roundup, we have news about a series of potential Premier League exits next summer, including a potential return home for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.

A loan move for a Chelsea fringe player to Strasbourg is becoming part of transfer window bingo as the owners of both clubs continue to exploit loopholes in UEFA's rules.

The latest player to be linked with the switch is Mykhailo Mudryk, who is approaching the end of his suspension from a doping ban. The Ukrainian winger tested positive for meldonium in 2024, but his provisional ban is set to expire in January.

With Chelsea now stacked in wide areas, the plan, according to Achille Ash, is to offload the player to Strasbourg in a bid to see if he can regain his form and/or boost his transfer value ahead of the summer.

It's been quite the fall from grace for Mudryk, who signed for the Blues in January 2023 for £89m.

James Trafford makes Man City decision

James Trafford has reportedly already made up his mind about his future at Manchester City, after being ousted by Gianluigi Donnarumma before being given a proper chance between the sticks by Pep Guardiola.

According to a report in the Mail, the former Burnley keeper is keen to depart the Etihad Stadium in January, and Newcastle are still interested in his services after attempting to sign him last summer.

The 23-year-old signed a five-year deal with Man City in the summer, so it will be difficult for him to secure a permanent move away this winter, but a loan move could be possible.

Trafford is keen to be included in England's squad for the 2026 World Cup, but he has little chance of playing any part in the tournament if he isn't playing regular football at club level.

Gabriel Jesus linked with a return to Brazil

Gabriel Jesus is now back after a devastating ACL injury derailed his 2024/25 campaign, but it appears that his Arsenal career is nearing its end.

The former Man City forward was once the start of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team, but he now finds himself as the third-choice striker at the Emirates Stadium, behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.

According to a report in Brazilian publication Espirito de Porco, Palmeiras have already been in contact about signing the player on an initial loan deal this winter. The deal would reportedly also include an option to buy in the summer.

Like Trafford, Jesus has international ambitions, but it is unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti will even consider him for his Brazil squad unless he is playing regular football.
