With the 2026 World Cup now concluded, Julian Alvarez can turn his full attention towards his club future, with speculation continuing to surround a potential departure from Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Argentine forward played a key role in his country's run to the final, scoring crucial goals along the way and helping Argentina defeat England 2-1 in the semi-finals before falling short against Spain in a 1-0 defeat in finale.

Now back from international duty, Alvarez has emerged as one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, with several major clubs reportedly monitoring his situation at Atletico Madrid.

The former Manchester City striker has enjoyed an impressive spell under Diego Simeone, registering 49 goals in 106 appearances across all competitions since arriving in the Spanish capital.

Which club is most likely to sign Julian Alvarez?

At the moment there are only a few sides who seem likely to push for Alvarez's signature in the coming weeks.

Barcelona have emerged as the leading contenders to make a move, with reports suggesting the Catalan giants are preparing a £110 million (€130 million) bid now the World Cup has concluded.

Although Barcelona have already strengthened their attack with Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, they are still believed to be keen on adding Alvarez to Hansi Flick's frontline.
