Ivory Coast looked like they were heading out of AFCON 2023 at the hands of Mali until Brighton's Simon Adingra scored a last-minute equaliser to make the scoreline 1-1 and send the match into extra-time. The host nation had played the majority of the game with ten men following Odilon Kossounou's sending-off just before halftime. Right at the end of extra-time, Ivory Coast substitute Oumar Diakite flicked home the winning goal to send the Ivory Coast fans into hysterics but the goalscorer was sen-off a minute later taking the hosts down to nine men. Mali then had a man of their own sent off in what was a crazy end to the match.
Odilon Kossounou and the hero of the quarter-final Oumar Diakite will both miss the Congo DR game due to suspension.

Former West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku scored with eight minutes of the ninety remaining to confirm Congo DR's place in the semi-finals.
Meschack Elia was replaced in the fifty-ninth minute by Silas Katompa-Mvumpa and the Stuttgart man could replace Elia in the starting lineup on Wednesday night.
