Ipswich new signings: Confirmed ins and outs for Summer 2025

Ipswich new signings Summer 2025

Azor Matusiwa (Rennes)

One of Ipswich's most expensive signings of the summer transfer window was 27-year-old defensive midfielder Azor Matusiwa from Ligue 1 side Rennes for a reported £10m.

Matusiwa signing grade: A

Matusiwa has played at a high level in Ligue 1, and has provided a lot of quality for Ipswich.

Jens Cajuste (Napoli)

Ipswich re-signed 25-year-old defensive midfielder Jens Cajuste from reigning Serie A champions Napoli on another season-long loan.

Cajuste signing grade: A

Cajuste already knew the club well, and will be motivated to help Ipswich get back into the Premier League.

Ashley Young (Everton)

Ipswich signed experienced English full-back Ashley Young on a free transfer following his release from Everton.

Young signing grade: A

Young has brought a wealth of experience with him and has not cost a penny.

David Button (Reading)

Ipswich also signed goalkeeper David Button on a free transfer after leaving Reading.

Button signing grade: B

Button has certainly provided competition in the goalkeeping department.

Chuba Akpom (Ajax)

Perhaps Ipswich's most exciting signing of the summer transfer window was that of striker Chuba Akpom on loan from Ajax, who has plenty of experience of scoring goals in the Championship.

Akpom was a smart signing who is sure to score a lot of goals in the Championship both now and in the future.

Cedric Kipre (Reims)

Ipswich also signed central defender Cedric Kipre on loan from French side Reims.

Kipre has added more competition to the backline.

Kasey McAteer (Leicester)

Ipswich completed the signing of 23-year-old winger Kasey McAteer from fellow Championship rivals Leicester for a reported transfer fee of around £12m.

McAteer signing grade: A

McAteer is a quality player who knows the Championship well.

Marcelino Nunez (Norwich)

Ipswich made quite the statement by signing 25-year-old central midfield player Marcelino Nunez from bitter rivals Norwich for a reported transfer fee of around £7.5m.

Nunez signing grade: A

Nunez is quite the coup signing from Norwich, and has already provided plenty of goal contributions.

Darnell Furlong (West Brom)

Ipswich also completed the signing of 29-year-old right-back Darnell Furlong from fellow Championship rivals West Brom for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Furlong signing grade: B

Furlong is another new signing who knows the Championship very well.

Ivan Azon (Como)

Ipswich also signed 22-year-old striker Ivan Azon on loan from Serie A side Como for the rest of the 2025/26 campaign.

Azon signing grade: B

Azon has plenty of potential and has provided competition up front.

Sindre Walle Egeli (Nordsjaelland)

Ipswich's most expensive signing of the summer transfer window was that of 19-year-old Norwegian talent Sindre Walle Egeli deom Danish top flight club Nordsjaelland for a reported fee of around £17.5m.

Egeli signing grade: A

Egeli is a big talent who has attracted a number of bigger clubs than Ipswich in the past.

Ipswich transfer window rating: Grade A

Ipswich made a number of top signings in the summer transfer window, while also commanding decent fees for a number of players they felt they had to let go. Losing the likes of Delap and Hutchinson is certainly a blow for the Tractor Boys, but they will feel that they have been replaced adequately.

Jaden Philogene tops the table of players who Ipswich signed in the January transfer window. The winger was available for £20m, plus a further £3m in add-ons, and did well to score two goals in 10 games at the back end of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Experienced goalkeeper Alex Palmer was also introduced as an Ipswich player in January. The 28-year-old shot-stopper, who previously played for West Brom, was a firm starter for Ipswich in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
