Inter pushed through to win three games, and two of those came against the weakest team in the group, Viktoria Plzen. They lost both games to Bayern but managed to outsmart Barcelona winning by a single goal difference at home, and getting an incredible 3-3 score in Spain. Their form in the Serie A has improved just since the season was stopped for the World Cup, but their chances of taking another domestic title seem like a long shot considering how powerful Napoli looks. Some developments will affect their form or their strength before the Porto match is on the schedule, and a lot will have to do with the way they act in the current transfer window.

The Portuguese league is not as strong as Serie A, but Porto proved that they can compete with the best teams in Europe. They coasted through the group stage even though they suffered a stunning loss in their first game against the Belgian champions Club Brugge, it was 0-4, but they avenged that defeat a couple of months later. Porto has been the favorite to win their domestic title virtually every year winning three out of the last five iterations. It is almost unimaginable to look at the Champions League without Porto taking part, and their experience at this level gives them additional confidence against the best teams Europe has to offer. Over the years, Porto has built one of the best youth programs in the world, and it is shown in the way they promote talent. Porto will look to Mehdi Taremi as the main threat to Inter's goal. The talented Iranian striker has seen plenty of action this season scoring important goals throughout the first part of the season.
