German giants Bayern Munich welcome Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt to the Allianz Arena on Thursday night as both sides begin their 2026-27 Champions League campaigns.

After reaching the Champions League semi-finals last season, Vincent Kompany and his Bayern Munich side will be aiming to go one step further this time around and lift Europe's premier competition for the seventh time in their history, and for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
The Bundesliga champions began the 2026-27 campaign with a clash against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and claimed the trophy for a record-extending 12th time with a 2-1 victory, before turning their attention to the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
The Bavarians opened their league campaign against Stuttgart and cruised to a 5-1 victory before thrashing Osnabruck 4-1 in the cup, with their only setback coming at the weekend when Bayern were held to a draw by newly promoted Schalke.
With the former Manchester City defender opting to rest key players such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala for that weekend stalemate, the trio are expected to return to the starting XI as Bayern look to maintain their impressive record in opening Champions League fixtures.
Bayern Munich have won their opening game in the competition in each of the last 22 campaigns and will enter Thursday's clash as heavy favourites, although they face a side that have already demonstrated their ability to cause major upsets on the European stage.
Bodo/Glimt travel to southern Germany already well into their domestic campaign, with the Norwegian league running from March to November, potentially giving them an advantage in terms of match sharpness ahead of a daunting test in Munich.
