Hull vs Wigan: Our top betting tips

Hull are in utterly dreadful form right now as they plunge ever closer to the bottom three. Can they find a rate win here as they play host to newly promoted Wigan? Find out with our Hull vs Wigan match preview with free tips, predictions and odds mentioned along the way.

Wigan to win

There is just no easy way to dress this up for Hull fans; our first tip is one that sees us backing the Tigers to lose – again. They've been in awful form of late with five straight defeats and, more worryingly, the way they are performing is a million miles off what is needed in this league too. Wigan meanwhile have lost just one of their past five games and have taken nine points from the previous 12 available to them; for context, Hull have amassed just 11 all season. Things get worse for Hull when you look at the game more closely too; they've lost their last three at home whilst Wigan have won four on the bounce away from home. It doesn't look good for the Tigers, does it?

Over 2.5 goals incoming

This next tip is not a banker by any stretch of the imagination with Wigan having passed the 2.5 goal mark in just two of their last five games, however, we feel there is enough in Hull's form and the head to head record to opt for an ‘over' wager. Hull have gone over broken the 2.5 goal mark in three of their past five matches, which somewhat cancels out Wigan's two from five. Then you have the head to head record – and it's bonkers. The last 10 games between these sides have gone over 2.5 goals with a total of 44 goals seen; that's 4.4 per match! Considering we only need to see 2.5 goals, we should be in fairly safe hands!

Will Tigers find their bite or does another defeat await?

Oh Hull, it has been tragic of late. Five defeats on the bounce is relegation form if ever it's been seen and based on Wigan's recent form, which sees them sixth in the form table, things aren't about to get much better. Can the hosts give their fans any hope to cling on to? We're going to find out!

Hull's form isn't great my any means but they can at least point to a physios room loaded with players as an excuse; they have five players missing from selection for this match including Vaughn Covil and Benjamin Tetteh.

Hull Predicted lineup – Baxter, Coyle, Jones, Greaves, Elder, Woods, Slater, Longman, Tufan, Pelkas, Estupinan

Wigan are ticking over nicely for a newly promoted side and with just Jordan Cousins and Gwion Edwards out injured, they'll be keen to keep motoring as they travel to Hull.

Wigan Predicted lineup – Amos, McClean, Tilt, Whatmough, Nyambe, Power, Naylor, Aasgaard, Keane, Broadhead, Wyke
