Hot Tip – Ghana to Win
- Ghana have won each of their last four games against Cape Verde.
- Cape Verde have lost four of their last six matches in all competitions.
Another reason why we're backing Ghana to win this game is that the Black Stars have won this competition four times before and finished as runners-up in 2015.

Ghana vs Cape Verde team news
Ghana
Ghana played out a goalless draw with Namibia in their warm-up game before the start of AFCON 2023. Whilst not one of the big favourites to win this competition, Ghana's squad includes the likes of Daniel Amartey, André Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew and Iñaki Williams, so there is plenty of talent and experience for manager Chris Hughton to call upon.
Baba Rahman, Kasim Adams, Tariq Lamptey, Joseph Aidoo, Thomas Partey, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Abdul Fatawu have not made the cut for AFCON 2023.
Predicted Lineup: Ofori (GK), Odoi, Amartey, Mensah, Opoku, Baba, Abdul Samed, Kudus, J. Ayew, Williams & Semenyo
Cape Verde
Cape Verde slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Tunisia on Wednesday in their final preparations for AFCON 2023. Not much is expected of Cape Verde in a group that includes Egypt and Ghana but Bubista will feel that second place is to play for as the Black Stars failed to get out of their group in 2021.
Ponck, Steve Furtado, Steven Fortès, Hélder Tavares, Júlio Tavares and Djaniny are a few of the players that failed to earn a call-up for the latest Cape Verde squad.
Predicted Lineup: Vózinha (GK), Pico, Costa, Andrade, Monteiro, Stopira, Paulo, Mendes, Bebé, Rodrigues & Semedo

Player to Watch: Mohammed Kudus
With nine goals in thirty caps for the Black Stars, Mohammed Kudus could prove to be the driving force behind Ghana's push for the 2023 AFCON title.
Kudus has settled well to life in the Eastend with West Ham and heads into AFCON 2023 in good form with five goals in his last eight games for club and country.
We're backing the 23-year-old to be the star player for Ghana in the Ivory Coast and wouldn't be surprised to see the West Ham man score on Sunday as he top-scored for Ghana in the qualifiers with three goals.
