Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (3/5): Sky Sports mean business
There is a new twist in the Alejandro Garnacho transfer saga, as Chelsea are looking to scupper Napoli's plans and bring him to Stamford Bridge.
This is being reported by Sky Sports and one of the senior reporters, Kaveh Solhekol, whose breaking transfer news is often to be taken seriously.
Value (2/5): United asking too much?
According to the same sources, it will take a huge offer for Man Utd to consider selling Garnacho, who has worked his way back into Ruben Amorim's thinking after being left out of the Manchester derby.
A market value of £42.2 million gives an idea of what United mean by “huge”, potentially something in the region of £70 million or more for the Argentina international.
Suitability (4/5): Can keep improving
The derby in December is the only one of United's 32 matches this season that Garnacho has not played a part in, contributing 13 goal involvements.
Still only 20, the Madrid native has plenty of time to improve further and has proven himself in the Premier League not only on the left-wing, but on the right and through the middle, too.
Upgrade? (4/5): Blues have left-sided problem
Mykhailo Mudryk's ban and no news yet on where Jadon Sancho's future lies leaves Chelsea with an issue at left-wing.
Sancho has seen an upturn in form at Stamford Bridge, but Garnacho would have eyes on making the position his own.
Logic (2/5): Main man at United?
Marcus Rashford's upcoming departure will only give Garnacho more game time at Old Trafford, especially if Khvicha Kvaratskhelia heads anywhere other than Manchester.
Other than European football next season, there is little more than Chelsea can offer at present, and there will be cheaper options out there for the Blues to chase.
Whisper+ verdict: 15/25
Reliable source information and a suitable player where Chelsea need a fix, but the asking price and logic throws this into real doubt.
