After falling to defeat in their last fixture, Arsenal will be glad to be playing against Fulham on New Year's Eve if their previous history is anything to go by having dominated this fixture since 2012, but this could be a great time for the Cottagers to pounce on a wounded Arsenal team. However, how does history look in terms of Fulham vs Arsenal last five H2Hs?
This will indeed be both Arsenal and Fulham's last game of 2023 so will be keen to end it on a high as the Gunners can move back to the top of the Premier League table for at least 24 hours before Liverpool play. However, Fulham will be full of confidence having scored 10 and only conceded two in their previous three home matches.
Fulham vs Arsenal H2H record
These two have a long-standing history having first played back in 1904 when the Gunners were called Woolwich Arsenal, the clash took place in the historic FA Cup which they won and that theme has continued throughout time.
Fulham wins: 8
Arsenal wins: 42
Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in English football history, so it's no surprise that the Gunners have dominated this fixture and throughout the years the North London giants have never actually lost back-to-back games against Fulham.
Fulham vs Arsenal last five H2Hs
Fulham 0-3 Arsenal – 12th September 2020
Mikel Arteta helped extend Arsenal's impressive record over Fulham with a comfortable 3-0 victory which meant they had won all of the previous six league matches with a shocking aggregate score of 18-3. An early goal from Alexandre Lacazette set the Gunners up very nicely before second-half strikes from Gabriel and once-Arsenal rebel Pierre Emerick Aubameyang rounded things off before the hour mark.
Arsenal 1-1 Fulham – 18th April 2021
Fulham were on course to record their first-ever win away at Arsenal back in 2021 when Josh Maja's penalty looked to be enough to secure all three points. However, academy graduate, Eddie Nketiah, popped up deep into second-half stoppage time to equalise in front of the fanatic Emirates crowd. This was a worrying time for the Gunners who'd won just once in their last seven home league matches.
Arsenal 2-1 Fulham – 27th August 2021
For the second game in a row, Fulham raced into a lead at the Emirates and had their fans dreaming of their first-ever win away to the Gunners. Aleksander Mitrovic scored in the second half, but that lead only lasted eight minutes before Martin Odegaard levelled things up. Arsenal capitalised on their momentum, Gabriel netted his second goal in three games against Arsenal to secure all three points with just four minutes left on the clock.
Fulham 0-3 Arsenal – 12th March 2023
If you are looking for someone to score against Fulham, then backing Gabriel seems like a very sensible option as he scored his third goal in four games against the Cottagers last season. He opened the scoring after 21 minutes before fellow Brazilian, Gabriel Martinelli, doubled the visitors' lead just five minutes later. Odegaard sealed all three points with a goal on the stroke of half-time. It stayed level in the second half which would have been a positive for Fulham, however, their shocking run against the Gunners continued.
Arsenal 2-2 Fulham – 26th August 2023
A game of what could've been for Fulham earlier this season at the Emirates. The Cottagers took a very early lead after just one minute, before then Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah netted within the space of two second-half minutes. However, all hope wasn't lost with Joao Palhinha popping up in added time to steal what looked to be a very unlikely point at a ground they usually perform poorly at.
Potential MVP – Gabriel
Despite having just conceded two goals at home to West Ham, Gabriel is our player to watch out for. This is mainly down to history because the Brazilian international has three goals in the last five matches between these two sides, so it's a team he loves playing against.
In fact, throughout his whole career, Gabriel has not scored more against a single opposition than Fulham with a strike in three of his four appearances since joining the Gunners and this coupled with the fact he's kept nine clean sheets across all competitions when starring for the Gunners, he's set for a big day.
The obvious key trend when Arsenal travel to Craven Cottage is that the Gunners run riot and Fulham struggle to get anything going.
In the last two meetings in which Arsenal have played away from home, the Gunners have smashed three goals past Fulham while also managing to keep a clean sheet on both occasions.
